Fire
The best fires burn slowly
Flames growing slowly through the tender
Dancing slowly, deliberately
Taking all the time they need.
The fire's warmth sneaks up on you
allowing time for it to penetrate
beyond the glow of the flames.
The warmth growths, peaks, and fades
leaving the embers, glowing and hot
and ready to bring the fire to life again

Guys...
...I am completely in awe listening to this. Any three you are great musicians at any given time, but on this I think the muses somehow were hovering above each of you here. WONDERFUL WORK! And thanks so very much for sharing it with us to enjoy. Seasons greetings and happy holidays, Michael

I really thought I was pushing my luck on this one especially after these two fine gentlemen gave so freely on another tune of mine. I am really blessed by your words and continued support to me and so many others here at macjams. Oh... and Merry Christmas!

A very enjoyable listen.
I always love hearing John's keys, and this is a very alluring melody. Scott's drums are nice and clear and expertly performed, as always. Your sax is very caressing in this, Andy. Love that "Jello!"

John's keys are uh... key to any song. The melody comes from the realization that a true friend will be there until the end. The song in and of itself lacked a lot of dynamics and so that is why I floated this over to Scott- who did not dissapoint. There's always room for jello.

Fire For Eagles
first of all, john's piano is so excellent, and i'm really glad you two are hooked up! these chord changes are cool and the sax blends in like honey on a morning muffin. (whot?) beautiful percussion and you've again done a great job of putting it all together andy. this new MJ band has it all!

Thanks dear.... like a buttered biscuit we would say down here in Texas. This track gave me all kinds of grief... like it didnt want to be heard. so I called in the big guns AND I got to shift the blame over to you when you suggested (again) that I ask John. I really thought he would decline since he was already working on Dark Waters. And Scott was too and so I had the same risk with him too... I felt like this one was a bit better in showcasinig what they are both so good at. Which is nuanced and perceptive with an innate understanding of style and grace when called for. (he he- I just made that up all by myself... but it is true nonetheless). I can imagine this being on your ipod while you are on a bike ride... on a even wide-banking left curve on a brand new asphalt highway.... no pebbles, clear skies and a nice straight away at the end of it all.

if the kids are united....
they will never be divided. Sombre melodies from this casting, you guys made a cool reflective tune here. Great to hear your styles merging together. I love the sax when it plays these tones.

Steve!
From what I know of these two gentleman is that they are both cool and reflective. I used alto sax on this one. She seems to have what was called for on the song. It was difficult to locate the 'do not suck' button.

The sax as melody were the lyrics... not sure what she (alto) was saying but - well, you know how it is. And I agree with you: Scott and John are tops all the way.

Amazing image
and the music is even more so, tho as abraxas says, a slow burner. Everything here is quite stunning Andy, John and Scott: it sounds like you've been playing together for years, and often in the same room. Really fine, thanks for the copy.

thermal lifts
floating high above the musical valley floor, the eagle soars and banks on the shifting chords of friendship, lifting gently under his wings, as his shadow crosses the audience. We look up, only to be caught in awe by the musical journey you are leading us on. Unusual and sensual composition, beautifully orchestrated, played, and recorded. KTB's and scofugate's additions infuse the buoyant sax work with extra warmth.

Has a sensuousness about it that works really well. Does evoke images of an eagle soaring effortlessly on the wind. Fine, subtle work by all concerned. Have a great Christmas. Regards, Peter.

Which came 1st the title or the picture? haha, just kidding. That picture is tailored made tho :-) This just keeps growing on me Andy. Nice production elements, they way you bring the strings in and out it keeps the progression fresh. You even made my part at the end work..lol. I really didn't know what I was doing there.

John!
and then I found the picture... some wallpaper from a word search thru google... and then I knew that this was the one... John, I really appreciate your involvement in this tune. I hope that it brought out the best of your best. I only kept my strings at the front and back end to the song and really like how you changed them up harmonically. But it was your piano I was mining and struck gold.... fire!

Andrew
thank you for your continued support - glad you were able to listen to John and Scott's work. I had a heck of a time with this mix.... it battled me for quite some time... some projects are like that , when you feel like you just cant get a handle on it... then when Scott's drums layered in just right and John's piano and strings just wrapped it all together and said...'you're almost there- keep going.' It's a joy.

Hm.
There is some fine sax work here, but I can't say that the main melody charms me. A couple of strange jumps in the chord structure and the sax doesn't do anything to make it more plausible.

But when you're playing mor freely this is quite cool.

Vic
hmmm, interesting perspective. Scott's drums were brought in to cover some of the dynamics. John's piano was there for concerto feel of the song. The sax was performed as if it was to be played in the style of a more orchestral work. That is, along the lines of a more traditional instrument such as an oboe or clarinet... Sax is somewhet tolerated in that realm, if not shunned altogether. thanks for your continued support and encouragement to me as well as to many others here at Macjams.

Every once in
awhile, the three of you soar and burn with rare fire. What is most evident is the love you all put into your music. This is very moving and emotional. Excellent work that does warm the soul of the listener, in appreciation of all that. Thanks.

I love the way you build the tune and bring in different instruments. You can certainly hear the benefits of having the three of you involved, so that each element is highly professional. The keys, the drums and of course the sax are all excellent! You can be proud of this one!

Andy, I nearly missed this one somehow! Phew! Glad I didn't. It was worth listening to even just to hear those chord changes and think "how the hell...!?!" Will you guys be doing more stuff together? I certainly hope so as I think you've struck something here. Worth pursuing in my opinion so I hope to hear more. And as always, Scott is The Man. Period! Really enjoyed this! Thank you for sharing it.

We just finished another project, entitled Dark Waters and during the production of that one, I had Fire for Eagles in the near - collab stage and sent it on to ktb and scofugate. I fully epxected both to decline - but both accepted and man, was I happy about that. So, I owe these guys in a big way. oh ya... chordbot is a very helpful tool in helping grease the wheels in the chord changes. glad you got to hear this one. Thanks for the comment.
