Hi Philip
You really are nice to me my friend. I love your comments because they make me want to go on and write straight away.
Thank you for that!

What an achievement!
Such a dark and foreboding entry - your tone here is very effective. The 5th drones almost bring forth the image of ancient Celtic spirits (now the artwork IS influencing my imagination). The oboe passage at 1:44 is lovely - a little like the sun coming through the cloud in your photo, especially when the flutes join in. The Cor Anglais at 6:09 is almost heartbreaking. Well crafted sir, especially when you bring it back in with the flute in a call and answer at 10:18. Interesting ending - I thought it was building to a big finish but you went into another direction and recalled an earlier melody and let it glide out that way.

Personal taste: this is my favourite movement of the 3. More consistently inspired writing throughout with a clearer voice and setting of the overall mood, and more effective contrasts and therefore interest. Not that the others aren't really very good - I just like this one the best.

Cheers Christopher,
Doug

Thank you Doug
This piece certainly grabbed my attention as it whirled around in my head. I experienced a few emotions and try to capture exactly what I was hearing. I think I did that!
Thank you so much for your kind encouraging words and I hope you enjoy the Finale?
