Description
I would consider this song a little more Country Rock. Country is hard for me to do and it took me a while to record this. I've acquired a G&L ASAT Classic a while back and never have used it for a full blown recording. I keep it tucked away and on occasion I'll take her out and play her... It's like playing a brand new guitar for the first time when I hold it in my hands. Not only does the guitar play nicely, I can get some fantastic sounds running it through Logic's Pedal Board and Amp emulator. I tried to put her through some paces but I think she had the advantage on me and put me through some paces. The pups are unforgiving, the neck leaves no room for excuses and the blame lies only on the operator.

I ran some Groove Monkey demo loops through EZ Drummers Vintage Rock kit and played my best along with a Peavey Fury bass. I thought a banjo would be fitting and not owning a banjo, I used a Lanikai uke in it's place. A Hohner dreadnought fills in the rest of the bed and then there's me trying to sing southern.

A special thanks goes out to Sam Dixon for giving me some valuable information on the final mix.

I appreciate you stopping by and taking a listen.

Lyrics
She's feeling sorry she can't have her way
Going around pouting in an unethical way
You know it's more sob stories and she's gonna get to you
'cause she knows she doesn't have one or maybe only two
So reach down in your pocket pull out another bill
You know it might be time to tell her you're gonna break me some day

You know it's more sob stories and she's gonna get to you
'cause she knows she doesn't have one or maybe only two
So reach down in your pocket pull out another bill
You know it might be time to tell her you're gonna break me some day

Why don't you quit that crying and let off some steam
I know what your trying to reach that incredible dream
She hasn't got a reason or maybe one to use
Nothing else will matter but what she wants from you
So reach deep in those pockets and find another bill
You know it might be time to tell her you're gonna break me some day

Break Me
Really clever lyrics. Equally nice melodies and harmonies. I can totally hear this coming from a country beer joint's juke-box. But not your garden variety country chord changes. Much more interesting. Great to hear you bringing so many instruments to the production. Makes a statement regarding how multi-talented you are.

Not my forte
but I have to dwell on occasion. You're to kind to a guy that can't find a genre. I don't know if it's multi-talent or more, trying to get it to work. Thanks for dropping by and being here.

Are You Ready For The Country
Good one Feel. Nice bouncy feel to this and you do a cool vocal to go with it. This had sort of a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band thing going on.

Break
Like the bouncy, sunny groove. Tasty guitar parts.
Like the uke in the left track, and the lead guitar break, ride out is perfect. Really enjoyed this.

Break me
This has almost a country grunge feel with the distorted guitar, John, but your vocals are pure southern country rock. Like the lyrics and, as others have pointed out, the outro works real nice. A touch of the Allmans, I think. Fine post. Thanks, Peter.

Country Grunge
I like it... kind of where I was wanting to go with it. Now if I could learn some country pick'n. Thanks for the comparison!

have to point out that your latest song blows me away.

Break Me
When I saw country I expected a clean strat/tele picking' kind of tune ... but not! Love that gritty guitar played country style. Nice country lead ... Hee Haw ... like your vocals ... excellent! Kind of refreshing.
Cheers

Country Pick'n
Don't know how to pick country so I try and infused rock into the genre. The more I listen to Country evolve, the more I hear rock there. How about Country Grunge? Thanks for dropping by and taking a listen.

Thanks for dropping by. It was my attention to create a more alternative country tune, so hearing from you it favored that way makes me happy.

Break Me
Wow John - this is really special, excellent work. I especially love the uke (I see I'm in good company with that!), and I'm thinking I'm glad you didn't have a banjo. "she put me through some paces" - lol! Terrific lyrics, great production. Sammy was a good choice for mixing consultation. And on top of all that, you totally crack me up. Thanks for the treat John!

Break Me
I agree with you on the genre, feels like country rock in the vein of Marshall Tucker. I like "break me some day" and the music sets it up nicely. Sweet guitar licks which we've come to expect from you. Separation and balance on the mix is outstanding.

I think that's where this is going. I like the comparison. The song started out as a accoustic alternative. It wasn't going anywhere so I pulled the tele out and dropped some country drum tracks into the mix. I was hoping for a bit alternative country.
