Description
A couple of years ago I was given an unusual gift: to have Kurt Baumer provide two separate fiddle tracks to two pieces of work I submitted - for me to mix in and have fun and learn with. I submitted the acoustic guitar parts, and was presented with his masterful fiddle tracks. This was my introduction to mixing. Though aware I was way outta my league, I decided to press on and approach Loob up on his ‘need drums?’ offer. He graciously gave of his experience, energy, talent and patience to add drums, arrange, mix and master this tune. Frank Robinson (Shizack) contributed his bass talents.
Bottom line’s here: I played with drums and bass, for a couple of months when about 16 years old, (a long while back, trust me), and we didn’t fare well. This was like stepping into a dream.
I thank Freddy, Curt and Frank... alot!

Now there's a sound we don't hear very often around here! The fiddle is smooth. Warm tone and fluid lines. Great backing. Fat drums! Thick bass! Round guitars! Deep pocket for sure!

Nice Work
You really sound together on this one. Bright, brash, happening and tight.

Don't know if it has the atmosphere of a lakeside, though, or even of a rural setting at all. It sounds more 'city' to me, with a shiny, youthful 'cool' exuberance, like a confident new kid strutting his stuff, though the fiddle lends an original depth and flavour to that theme that really makes it interesting.

Really enjoyed this one.

Thanks

Marc

gotta agree
You're right about the lakeside image. I'm preoccupied with the photo because this piece of heaven was devastated from erosion resulting from fires last year. Honestly, I'm unsure if the title even fits! I appreciate your take, and the exuberance offered by the classy musicians that lent their stuff to it.

First off, the fiddle is a refreshing sound ... I am totally diggin' this. Punchy bass groove, Loob is always a solid foundation with lots of feel, slightly chorused rhythm guitar all fits together into a nice mix. Enjoyed

Nice mixing!
Great job on the parts and the producing! I think its harder getting audio tracks blending than midi parts. This is very well produced and performed.

Thanks for Listening
It was a boost to listen to what Freddy, Kurt and shizack were able to manage, given some amateurishly mixed guitar chords to work with! I'm going to check out your blog more for production tips. Looks informative.

Is Kurt a member here?
Because someone was looking for a fiddler and his work sounds gorgeous. I especially love how you let that take center stage. I tried to make, tried being the optimal descriptor, to make a bouncy fiddle piece with loops called Fiddloop on Demeter7's page. I have had a soft spot for this kind of sound ever since. Freddy is beyond reproach for what he brings. We owe you and Frank for rounding this out. It is really good. I'm glad I stopped in. Thanks, band.

Nice Mix!
I like it....a LOT! Everyone contributed very well, but I gotta say that the fiddle was moody, moving, and packed lots and LOTS of soul!

Great job to everyone on this!
