Description
This song is very personal to me. I wrote it about an anxiety disorder I used to have called Selective Mutism. I still struggle with the affects today.

Lyrics
Look into my eyes, they're galaxies wide, galaxies wide
My universe is certainly cursed with fear that floods my brain
My soul what am I? This fear hides behind this complex machinery
But cries in the night, I'm falling away behind all of my mistakes
You can't help me, for I long to be something greater than you can fake

I can't live like this

This fear in my heart, there from the start
Put scales on my eyes and cut out my tongue
This fear in my heart, tearing me apart
Put scales on my eyes and it's blocking the stars

All my decisions, hindered by you
All his provisions, will destroy you

I can't live like this

This fear in my heart, there from the start
Put scales on my eyes and cut out my tongue
This fear in my heart, it's tearing me part
Put scales on my eyes and it's blocking the stars

I can't live like this, how do I live with this, show me how to live with this, show me how to live with this

I'm lonely down here, my worries and fears
You tear off my ashed skin, I'm shedding these tears
I'm lonely down here, my worries and fears
You tear off my ashed skin, I'm shedding these tears fall

I'm breaking free now, you're showing me how
You're healing my mouth, giving me words to shout
I see all the clouds, they're giving up now
And making a way for your stars that shine down

I'm lonely down here, my worries and fears
You tear off my ashed skin, I'm shedding these tears
I'm lonely down here, my worries and fears
You tear off my ashed skin, I'm shedding these tears fall

My soul by this window, I'm watching it go, all that I've known, I'm watching it go

My Universe
Nice light piano. Strummed guitar works well. Plenty of emotion in the vocal. Good use of harmony, and bringing the arrangement back in various sections adds to the overall impact of the song. I like the a cappella ending, too. Maybe post the lyrics? Powerful song, excellent performance.

Can't believe...
...this only got fanned 4 times???

You've got that special thing that a lot a people wished they had. The thing you can't "learn", you have to be born with it.

Excellent tune.

The song speaks volumes
Creating music and songs like this can help you discover your true *voice* (beyond mere speech) and help you overcome the effects of the disorder. This song speaks volumes, Lily... and reveals a very POWERFUL *voice* that need fear nothing.

Best of luck to you. ;)

Wow.
Stunning expressive music, for goodness sake keep writing and performing. When you see the reactions you're going to get producing work of this quality I hope it will help you overcome your troubles. In any case it sounds like a chance to express yourself with crystalline clarity and real feeling.

I'm not sure how I missed this when it was first posted, but I'm glad I found it now. Thanks for the download.

I understand completely
I avoid speaking to people in person whenever possible now. Your experience is very well expressed. The intensity of the song builds nicely too. If I may interject, with the following segment from my own perspective dealing with it:

No Way to Succeed and No Way to Fail
-Just a Comatose Hermit in his own Special Hell
Its Borders are known and so Clearly Defined,
Impregnable Walls built Secure in the Mind,
Around an Apathic Garden of Blossoms, Stagnant.
I am alive, but see through Eyes that are Dead,
Beholden in Hate and,
Reflections Without Memories
Reflections Without Memories
