Description
peek-a-boo

pretty much a straight forward tune. i have no idea how the title popped into my head, but it did make it easy to come up with the lyrics. i kept the tracks to a minimum

Lyrics
Curtains of curiosity

counting out all the stars
from behind the safety glass
moonlight strikes the floor
and a moon face stares back
eyes on what's going on
nothing was there before
see the bruised clouds
reflecting pain in black

the shades are drawn
nothing to see
the shades are drawn
curtains of curiosity

when the daylight comes
the sentinel takes a drag
consumed in the haze
day after day

the shades are drawn
nothing to see
the shades are drawn
curtains of curiosity

eyes are watching your back
a curtain falls slack
footsteps are closer today
the eyes always stay

the shades are drawn
nothing to see
the shades are drawn
curtains of curiosity

As usual, I like all the guitars - the the tones you use and the lines you play (the solo around the 2 min mark is especially good). Spooky sort of vocal works well. Imaginative lyrics. It all adds up to a fine song - much enjoyed!

thanks philip
originally when i recorded the slide i was playing it throughout the song, originally during the solo part i was thinking of that as a bridge. on play back i realized the solo was a keeper rather then coming up with some lyrics

You have made a trademark of the layered guitars, Vic, and so you should - you do it so well. They sound so balanced and assured on this. The lead work is especially tasty, too. Good hook line for lyrics, I agree. I enjoyed this. Thanks, Peter.

Very cool tune Vic. It has your signature sound but also has a dreamy quality about it that I really dig. The slide guitar solo is nice. Definitely enjoyed!

What a cool picture
Clean mix. The acoustic guitar sounds great. Nice noodling electric that emphasizes key points. Vocals are strong as usual. Enjoyed.

Another great tune ... you're on a roll ... like the underlying acoustic guitars and the vibrato on the electric is cool. Good vocals and excellent performance ... slide sounds good too, like how you've recorded it.
Cheers

thanks for the time to check this out. if i remember right the slide has a large reverb and delay a little amp crunch and i think i added a filter effect as well

i was playing the slide through the whole piece and was going to cut out what i didn't need. the solo space was actually planned to have vocals in it so i wasn't really paying attention to what i was playing at the time......... on playback i thought well screw adding vocals to that part, the slide was perfect in that space.

great song Vic, really great vocals and guitars as always.

the slide. i used a old slide that i bought back in the early '70's. i think it's made of aluminum and has deep grooves. you might hear how i used it like a violin effect to get a droney type of sound.
thanks again bob

Love that hook and the lyric develops it well. Intro riff is really hooky. The acoustic is a fine flavor in the mix. Very nice solo.

the hook. i came up with the open hook on a guitar while at work and improved some chords. the other guys asked what song was that. i said it was something i just made up. they replied you should record a song with that. and this is the result. thanks dave

I like the crisp acoustic sound...
...and I like the left-and-right acoustics, and then the crunch chords set against the vibrato guitar...There are cool guitar flavors here without it being so over the top that they get lost...You can still hear nicely into the layers, and get all the neat bits...
