When Loving is One-sided, a capella

Description
I wrote this just this evening, pretty much as it is here. The four line chorus was written last. I sang it once with a tune that just came. It is raw and done with a pinhole mic because my mic is broken. If anyone cares to add music, I'll gladly re-sing. Thank you, kind people, for listening.

Lyrics
If I were a tear in your ocean
I'd be lost in you
If I were the heat in your fire
It'd burn bright as two
>
But, my time with you has shown me
It was only me
You were in it for selfish reasons
And I didn't see
>>
When loving is one-sided
It's a danger to the one
Sure, I was so misguided
If I knew, I would have run
>>
All that's left are answers that I found
To the end of dreams
I gave my heart and know what love is
You didn't, it seems
>
Now, I live life as one abandoned
To this world, alone
My days are filled with cold, dark sadness
Like a burial stone
>>
When loving is one-sided
It's a danger to the one
Sure, I was so misguided
If I knew, I would have run
>>
There's fantasy and reality
Imagined in mind
Sleep, to me, is like suffocation:
The only peace I find
>>
When loving is one-sided
It's a danger to the one
Sure, I was so misguided
If I knew, I would have run
>
Sure, I was so misguided
If I knew, I would have run

Oh, hi, Karen,
I have around six songs that aren't quite right, yet. This one came about in a few minutes and I thought it was worth a shot. And, I found the artwork on the first page I came to. Serendipity. Another depressing lyric but I write what I know. Thank you, sweetie.

Very good Char. Excellent lyrics and by far the strongest melody I've heard from you. Very well sung too! The quality of the recording is also very good.

I am not surprised you
came by, Andrew. I don't know where you find the time to be so supportive of everyone but I am so grateful for any listens and thumbs ups. I am using the computer's mic. And, fortunately, it was quiet the evening I recorded. Thank you.

liked it, Stan? That encourages me about my instincts. who knows where these words and tunes come from in a few quiet moments when the world is still and the spirit speaks. It is an honest song and I'm so glad that others can relate. Thank you.

Aw,
you made me cry. I can't believe you took the time and then said something so very kind. I can try. And I had a long standing idea of what I sounded like from someone whose opinion did not reflect the truth. I am grateful. Thank you so much.

great feel
I like the feel of this song, with the addition of music and i can hear an awesome folky arrangement with a modern production that could be quite an epic and reflective story. nice song, thanx.

Thank
goodness I get some things in this life right. I liked it enough and didn't think I should wait for a new mic in case I lost the thing. It is possible I write lyrics in my sleep and then, it only seems as if they come to me, full formed during the day, out of nowhere. Thank you.

One-sided
Lovely melody & singing. It's tough to make an unaccompanied piece work and you've pulled it off
splendidly. If you re-record, I'd love to hear it a little slower with some breathing spaces.

PaulaMunk said 1757 days ago (October 24th, 2012)
Of course,
I would definitely sing it to music a bit differently. It'd be great to have an instrumental part stand alone in a few places. I did this in one take and sang straight through as empty spaces sound weird without music. But, if this never gets music, I'll be content that I preserved the song. Thanks.

Power...
There is a certain power that is gained from the vocal recitation of lyrics in such an unencumbered way. It makes the message sing with authenticity and clarity, almost like a personal chant of some sort. (On another note: your vocal presentation is getting so strong with time. I admire you sticking with it and honing your skills. It is obvious how much you love singing...and the world is a better place for your sharing that with us. )

Char???
This is the first of your vast body of work that I have experienced - among all your aliases. ;-)

I just have to say : there is a really magical and enchanting quality to your voice. It rings with truth - and reveals pockets of the universal soul.
This song almost sounds ancient - like a lost memory on the moor... a bewildered wind rushing through the valley of longing.

You really
don't have to listen me..I'm just happy to put these things out there. This was recorded with the mic from the computer. I now have a better mic. I was hoping someone could make music for this. It has a Celtic sense and I love your line, "like a lost memory on the moor." You are very kind. I'm grateful.
