Description
John Howard Carpenter (born January 16, 1948) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer. Although Carpenter has worked in numerous film genres in his career, he is most commonly associated with horror and science fiction films from the 1970s and 1980s

Almost all the films in Carpenter's career were critical and commercial failures, with the notable exceptions of Halloween (1978) and Escape from New York (1981). However many of his works from the 1970s and the 1980s such as Dark Star (1974), Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), The Thing (1982), Starman (1984), Big Trouble in Little China (1986) and They Live (1988) are now seen as underrated cult classics, while Carpenter is now acknowledged as a major and influential artist in film history.

This is
pretty, Bryn. This would be great for a film about an underwater city. I just kept thinking of aquariums for some reason. Thanks.

A good tribute
to a great film director. Music in his style. And he wrote most of the music in his films too I believe. "Escape From New York" is one of my favourite films, not least because of a terrific soundtrack.

This is really fitting.

Hi Bryn....
Yeah...The guy got class. I enjoy most of his work and can easily see where he has been overlooked, or the work has.

My favourite was 'Assault on Precinct 13'.

Great tribute.

Take care.

Big Trouble in Little China
One of the funniest movies of the time, Kirk Russell was hilarious, one of my all time favorite movie.. I however did not like most of Carpenters music, he especially blew it on Escape from New York, which in mho did not fit at all...I like this little piece Bryn, fine movie worthy track..." The Truth Is Out There"

Has the Carpenter feel.
A sort of creeping dread that he managed to get into most of his soundtracks.

Lovely clear production.

Cheers

Applause
I'm a big fan of his movies and one of the reasons they are often so good is because of Mr. Carpenter's scores. This was an excellent homage to his work in music, touching upon his style yet refreshing and new all at the same time. Thanks for sharing this--much enjoyed it!

Carpenter
This is like a voyage into the mind - varying tones playing against a mid-bass continuo and propelled by the ticking of time. Kept my interest solidly throughout. I also like your choice of a very long fadeout since it feels very appropriate as a way for leaving the aural space you created. Dloaded.

Good one Bryn,
Doug

Just a bit spooky
but still a tribute to the man who inspired it. I like the music in "They Live" - also done by Mr Carpenter. I hope he likes this music too.

Nice
Very cool mix between the two genres that Carpenter is known for. A blend of sci fi meets impending horror. My type of mix. I love atmospheric mood setting music.

Phantasm
This matches its title perfectly! You really got the right Carpenter-esque balance of interest + drive + cheese. Really great, and ready to be dropped into the soundtrack for the re-release of "Mouth Of Madness".
