At Dawn (with Symphony101)

Description
This beautiful & emotional song was composed by Symphony101 and who kindly asked me to sing the vocal line. I loved the instrumental (which I think should be published in its own right) and was keen to do it, although I have found some of it challenging and am not convinced I have done it full justice.

The orchestral instruments are VST's, (Halion Symphonic Orchestra) used with keyboard and MIDI programming

Music and Lyrics: Symphony101, using Cubase
Vocals and mix: Mosaica, using GarageBand

I asked Yves (Symphony101) to provide some background if he wished, but am now blushing to read to his generous view!:

"Working on an orchestral piece with Rosalind has been one of my 'collaboration objectives' since I came across Rosalind's impressive work on various places. And this has now happened ! I approached Rosalind with the collab proposal, and a sketch of the song idea, which, to my greatest pleasure, drew her interest. Later on, the music was further built up and fine tuned and I worked on the some lyrics ideas. It came later on as a nice suprise that, Rosalind gave a chance to the lyrics.

"I am truly humbled by this beautiful and rewarding experience. Listening to Rosalind's vocals on this song is such a pleasure, and this is the reason why I so much love collabs."

I love collaborations too!

Lyrics

AT DAWN

V1
I rise at dawn
New day begun
A fresh blank page
In the book of life

V2
If it makes sense
I'll take a chance
There's one more song
For one more dance

CHORUS
Tell me, my sins of yesterday
Are vanished in the night
I'm the one
Facing the sun
Till I face the last one

V3
I'm strong and proud
But I still have doubts
I'm not the same
But am I better?

V4
If it's a test
I'll do my best
Face this ordeal
And wait for the next

CHORUS
Tell me, my fears of yesterday
Ended in the night
I'm the one
Facing the sun
Till I face the last one

BRIDGE
I still can't resolve
The enigma of the endless cycles
This long journey's meaning
And, where we are heading

I'm sailing through the waves
Of the restless time
But I still feel thankful
Watching the red skies

CHORUS
Tell me, if my sins of yesterday
Are vanished in the night
I'm the one
Facing the sun
Till I face the last one

WOW!
What a wonderful song, what a wonderful voice, what a wonderful arrangement! This is truly perfect and meets the highest standards.
Mac Jams is always good for a surprise, but this is one of the most beautiful songs I heard for a long time.
Thank you very very much for sharing!

Beautiful in every way...composition, backing, vocal performance. This sounds like an Andrew Loyd Weber outtake. Outstanding track.

Music theatre
Thank you - I love a lot of ALW's stuff, I think you are right that despite being "classical" it does have a music theatre feel to it.

Too
beautiful. It belongs in a stage production. (There were a few clips or breaks but that is something that can be fixed, I'm sure.) Thanks.

Clips n Breaks
Char - hopefully these are only on the audio stream (it's a big file) - it's happening for me too. There shouldn't be any on a download file as I did all the usual checks, but let me know if that is so.

Could fit easily into the Les Miserables score - this is superb. The backing is rich, the singing beautifully heartfelt. A musical match made in heaven! Outstanding work.

Thank you for that, I always think I lose expressiveness at the expense of technique so it's nice to have a vote of confidence in that :-)

Congratulations, Rosalind and Yves. This is such a fine melding of talents. Beautiful song, wonderfully arranged and sung. It would definitely not be out of place in a high class musical production. Fantastic collaboration. Kindest regards, Peter.

Ditto...
...in that it's wonderful to have high quality & home-produced music to sing to, an altogether much richer & warmer experience than when I sing to a licenced karaoke track! My friends have already commented on the beauty and strength in this orchestral piece, thank you so much.

Beautiful
I just happened to be in the MJ neighborhood this evening. I'm so glad I caught this. Absolutely stunning vocal performance, Rosalind. Yves, your composition is breathtaking, just magical. This certainly belongs on Broadway!!!

Broadway
Thanks Raven, it was only after I started practising with the lyric that I realised it had a music theatre quality to it, I think the instrumental (which is stunning in its own right) sounds more "classical".

You guys
are like Andrew LLoyd Webber and Sarah Brightman. Your voice sounds so rich here Rosalind and your range and the emotion you convey sweeps me along. Yves, this is a solid foundation for showcasing Rosalind's lovely vocal and reminds me of a west end large scale musical. Well scored sir.

Kudos to you both - I think you should be planning another opus, and hopefully soon!!

Isn't software great?
Everyone can have their own orchestra these days. Of course you still have to know how to use it, and Yves is pretty good at that.

I love your vocals over this. Beautiful melody, beautifully sung.

Know-How
Yes, today's available software might give people easy access to sounds, but it still takes true creativity, vision and know-how to create a piece, and Symphony101 has that in spades. Thank you for visiting.
