Description
Here's a song written in 1933 by Victor Young and Ned Washington and I'm backed as usual by Mr. Alan McPike--thanks for listening!

Michael

PS: Chances are the next time I slap something up here I'll be in my new home of Birmingham, Alabama, y'all--oops, it's starting already!

I am
in awe of your talent. Beautiful phrasing, it sounds easy when you do it but I know it isn't.(I know cause I've tried and failed miserably!)

Hey Mark!!!!!
Oh gosh, you are so generous! Like Dean Martin, I work with a limited range and just try to deal with what I have (other than my ability to chew aspirin without water--usually in front of squeamish people works best!) Hope you are doing well my friend and colleague--you take care now! Michael

I agree with Mark..
You got the singer-goods. I'm not familiar with this song, but glad to now get acquainted. You know, you need to put out a songbook CD, 'cause you bring the music-past to the present with your own unique entertaining signature. Thanks again for sharing...

Thanks once again Jack!
I just love this song--one of those undiscovered "gems" from the past that I'm always delighted to find; I'm glad you like this song and very much obliged for your generous remarks! Take care now! Michael

Another great choice of song, Michael. Another classic that I really enjoy. You give it such an assured treatment. Eat your heart out, Frank. Love the graphic, too. I wonder what song will be first cab off the rank from Birmingham? Good luck! Regards, Peter.

Hi Peter!
Oh man, ya know, I've been bruishing my behind getting ready for this big move--then I'm thinking of all the work remaining once we GET there! But I'm excited--I have a brand new ribbon mic, a brand new pre-amp, a brand new PC and speakers, all boxed up and ready to be installed once we settle in, so I'm going to have a blast! As always, a kind word from a top talent like you gives me a lot of inspiration--thanks again Peter, and take good care now, Michael

Your crooner-style delivery of this is very engaging. I like the work of Mr McPike, too - it is a wonderful a accompaniment to your warm and relaxed treatment of the song. Much enjoyed, Michael.

Warm and relaxed
as Philip says, and as usual, as I say. Another good one Michael, and new to me.

I am so excited for you, new equipment aside. You're off on a new adventure: new town, new job (?), new culture (shock), just about new everything except the comforting presence of your partner. All too cool. Have a swell time (in keeping with this song's era) and don't forget to write ;-)

The quality of your stuff is so amazingly consistent. The eq on the vocal really captures the sound of 50s and 60s era jazz singers. Great post.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the south,

great backing track this one
I really like that laid back big band sound....some guy crooning up at the front kind of adds to it in a small way too......limited
range my eye....if this is limited then I must be
the brother of a man from the Nederalands who has a son.For sure this is certain.

Great stuff .....encore

Old Movies...
Michael,
When some big old producer decides to resurrect those 30's - 40's movie musicals, I hope they find you. You have such a natural gift in bringing these classic vocal gems to life and your performance is always an absolute delight. I hope you will continue to tap your muse when you get settled in Alabama, though you might just start delivering Stephen Foster ditties. ... Anyway, this is just wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed.

Swing it Michael
Turning your talents to these numbers brings their warm sounds out to delight a new generation. You were born to sing these - how else could you so 'effortlessly' bring forth the natural phrasing, swing timing, melody improv -... oh yeah, lots of practice to MAKE it sound easy.

Enjoy your new home in the south and take good care!
Doug

Michael,
this is one of your very best performances.... love the song and your intonations are classic.... i'd forgotten this song existed, so thanks for bringing it back up to date.... these songs are still so relevant and much better than the modern trend for a lot of un-melodic modern 'music', regards M

Fresh take
What? You decided to flee Minnesota before deep winter sets in? I can't blame you for doing that.

I know this song from a Sinatra recording, but I didn't realize it went back to the early 1930s. You do it justice - making it sound fresh and pertinent for today.
