Description
Written By: Will Walton

Will Walton: Vocals, Piano, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar

Flora Sukhwinder: Vocals

Thierry Santacana: Electric Guitar, Organ

Mix and Master By: Tommy Hellsten

"Battleships" was originally written on the acoustic guitar in 2008 for my then-girlfriend, but never recorded with a full band, only as a bootleg. The song was brought back to life a few months ago when, by chance, I picked out the piano part while fooling around. I then recruited Flora and Thierry to perform on it. And as always, Tommy Hellsten did all the mixing and mastering for the song. This is mine and Flora's first collaboration together, and what an amazing talent she is. We have since done others that will be released shortly. The remaking of this song was something that just kind of happened, and this is the end result.

Lyrics
(WHOLE STEP DOWN)

C G Am F
Not on prowl, not on point, not expecting anyone
C G F
to wake me, or shake me up
C G Am F
Slow burning mellow flames, though coals aren’t the brightest thing
C G F
They’ll burn you the moment you touch

Dm G Dm G Am C F
Battleships couldn’t sink this thrill I feel up on top of your wake
Dm G Dm G Am C F
Armored tanks couldn’t blow away, the safety you drape on my day

Blonde as a hay-grass field, tough like a wagon wheel

your strength, it pushes me forward

Calm like a glassy lake, essential as a firebreak

you’re foremost, but always support

(CHORUS)

Tomorrow will never tell, our fortune’s for us to shell

and crumble around the insight

I can’t promise you a thing, and nor can you to me

But only how hard I will try

(CHORUS)

Battleships
Inviting intro leads to Flora's wonderful vocals. Some quality song writing, too. The dual pianos work well. To me, Will, your effected vocal is such a contrast to Flora that it seems slightly out of place in the song? Just a thought. Regards, Peter.

great!
Wonderfully done. I tend to agree with the heavy use of effects on the your(Will) vox, juxtaposed with the clean vocals by Flora, being a little "off." However, love the tune! Flora has a wonderful voice, looking forward to hearing more!
