Lyrics
It's time for me to come home now, oh yeah
'Cos I'm so tired of being so alone
You know while I've been away
I thought of you every day
And all the things that we'll say and do
So it's time to come home to you

It's been so long that we've been apart, girl, oh yeah
But you know that you're in my heart
And that I long for your touch
Because I miss you so much
And my feelings have only grown
And so it's time to come home

With your love
Nothing can stand in my way
With your love
I know everything is okay
In every way

So it's time for me to come home now, oh yeah
'Cos I'm so tired of being so alone
You know I'll always be true
Because I love only you
And all the things that you say and do
So it's time to come home to you

You know while I've been away
I thought of you every day
And all the things that you'll say and do
So it's time to come home to you

With your love
Nothing can stand in my way
With your love
I know everything is okay
In every way

So it's time for me to come home now, oh yeah
'Cos I'm so tired of being so alone
And that I long for your touch
Because I miss you so much
And my feelings have only grown
So it's time, it's time to come home
It's time to come home
It's time to come home

reminds me of a prominent 60's band....could it be...the Velvet Underground ? Just kidding...this is steeped in early Beatles sound. Very nice it is too!

Interesting
I love MJ for the originality of what poeple come up with. This could so be from the 1964 era. Well done on creating something original from something so familiar. Cheers Mark

That is, indeed, the whole point of The Applesauce Project -- learn from the Fabs, honor the Fabs, emulate the Fabs, create something new inspired by the Fabs. :)

This is AWESOME! I'm a total Beatle nut (who isn't). You really captured their early vibe and such amazing detail!

Thank you so much!
A lot of time and effort goers into making these sound as authentic as we can make them... always happy to see those efforts appreciated.

I tend to dole the new stuff out sparingly, maybe one song a week, so as to not overwhelm folks... but more's definitely on the way.:)
Char said 1741 days ago (December 19th, 2012)
Doesn't
that beat all? A new song from a classic sensibility. Do you like to reprise the Beatles' sound only or do take a bit from other groups of the same era? Sounded authenthic, oh, yeah! Thanks.

Thanks!
Primarily I focus on writing Beatle pastiches, but sounds and elements from other '60s (and even '50s) bands filter in occasionally. I've got a few girl group tracks and a California sunshine pop track that I'll be sharing, and I'm working on a fusion of Donovan and The Lovin' Spoonful.

Cool
Is that the same opening chord from "Hard Day's Night"? I'm recognized as a certified Beatlemaniac in 37 states, so I love this. Looking forward to more songs from you.

The_Applesauce_Project said 1741 days ago (December 19th, 2012)
It is indeed that chord!
Or, rather, chords... George (and in this case Clay) played an Fadd9 (F with a G on top) on the 12-string Rick and John (and I) played a Dsus4. Paul (and Alan) played an open D on the bass, Ringo (and Mark) hit the high hat, and George Martin (and I) played a piano chord that I don't even remember at this point.

Believe me, my research on these things is meticulous, so you'll hear lots of fun nods to classic tunes in songs to come.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that -- the straight truth is that I'm working towards finishing an album for release hopefully in November, so, you know, like any good dealer, the first taste is free. :)
J.A.Stewart said 1741 days ago (December 19th, 2012)
Well...
... that was fun.

Now, if I could only fit into my old Nehru jacket and Beatle boots. lol!

Much like *The Rutles* and *The Wonders* ("That Thing You Do"), this song captures many of the elements of early energetic Beatles tunes.

On behalf of myself and the (MJ) group, I think you passed the audition. Welcome to MacJams. ;)

Fun is the point, isn't it?
So glad you and others are enjoying this. And certainly The Rutles, The Wonders, Utopia's "Deface The Music" album, certain Dukes of Stratosphear tracks, Dan Castellaneta's "Two Lips" CD, and the entire SpongeTones catalog have been inspirations for The Applesauce Project.
