Description
Lyzak Posted a sketch in open collaborations. Paula listened. Ralph heard it, too. He wanted a chance to sing as his Christmas present. Paula Claus gave him the go. Char messed around with some effects...again, she's not sure if soft background really is there; she's such a screw up.
No music was played while Ralph sung because it may not exactly fit with Lyzak's music. But, that was definitely the inspiration. Ralph is chuffed!

Lyrics
Where Can You be Hiding?

When I think back on all the things I've seen
I remember all those long days with you
We were young and free and the world was green
There wasn't anything we could not do
>
All at once it changed to a different scene
When you had to leave while I had to stay
All these years went by and the streets were mean
But I longed for you, day after day
>>
Where does one go when he has lost his shoes
Where can he walk and for how long?
I'm feeling as though I live the blues
Looking for you; is that so wrong?
>>
Where can you be hiding, my precious one
Do you ever go out and look for me?
If I saw you, I wouldn't walk, but run
And when I caught you, we'd finally see
>>
You don't need shoes when you have wings to fly
And your love, close by your side
I got grounded the day you said, "Goodbye"
But we could soar if we tried
But we could soar if we tried

Wow!
Honored to provide some inspiration and, play a tiny part in Ralph and your Christmas!
As well, I'm eager to better understand the meaning of 'chuffed.'

I may do something else
with this. chuffed: to be very pleased, proud or happy with yourself. :)

hmmm slightly unnerving at first........
then the penny dropped.......it's really very clever....how did you maintain a pitch.....and did you have to slow it down or is it all equalisation and stuff ?

very good

Actually I will
just qualify my "slightly unnerving " remark.....I had just been searching the web for Walter Carlos album "By Request"....I knew that he was a she but did not know that it was a gender re-assignment deal....I thought that she had just had to maintain a pose as a male artist due to the type of electronica that was being sold and it was the 70's ,cant't have a girly electronics music boffin......a bit naive of me really......anyway I heard the vocal before I had fully read the description and it was a bit unnerving as I say ....spooky and synergetic as well.....

Cheers

I just
drop the pitch or add Deeper Vocals or both. No slowing down. I don't know how to use equalization. I had to re-record the last bit because my singing in a high register sounded weirdly wobbly, because of my vibrato. There are 3 tracks because I had to lower the volume to get rid of clipping or whatever that was. There are still a few glitches but I don't know how to fix them. Ralph was feeling very baritone. The only thing I reassigned here was the recorded voice. Wendy Carlos is a lot happier now. Thank you, Chris, for listening.

An experiment
Wot, no music? I don't get it. Nevertheless, it stands alone as a worthy addition to your a cappella works. Good to hear that Ralph is still in the saddle. Maybe you two could team up again? His style is similar to yours, it seems.

Well,
I had heard Lyzak's song. A few minutes later I had these lyrics and I knew they should be in a male voice. Ralph was itching to give it a go. Now, Lyzak's music was not even listened to while Ralph sang. Ralph hates to have to adjust what he does to music and we didn't really have permission. But, you can go there and hear what inspired "him". Yeah, I would dearly love to have Char sing along with Ralph and go up where he goes down. I don't mean anything naughty. ;) If only I knew someone who could make music with some killer wall of sound phrasing...? If only.... Thank you from Paula, Ralph and Char.

Where Can You Be Hiding, Ralph
OK I am confused - is that Ralph singing? That is one baritone chipmunk, if I ever heard one! Certainly provided an interesting break from the Christmas music I had been listening to. When I read your lyrics I'm left feeling a twist of emotions inside - it is really brilliant work hiding in this piece, and I enjoyed the experience - thank you, Ms. Munk! -

Oh yes,
Ralph is singing. He sure is a baritone. A "twist of emotions"? Really? I liked Char's line about the shoes. She says these things just come to her. You liked it...yay! Thank you, from Ralph.
