Moving and contemplative. Nice thick tone, wonderful meandering passages.

Twilight
I'm not quite sure what to make of your comment (for which thanks, no matter what!): I'll freely admit that this music does not use traditional harmonies, and in fact uses what used to be considered dissonances. That does not mean there is anything spooky or frightening to this, or even any sort of tension. In fact, I consider this a meditative, restful peace, with almost no tension. There is literally only one place that I would consider dissonant, and that resolves quickly. But my ears are not every one's....

Reflection and Anticipation
I'll put these 3 of 4 parts where I can access them - to point me in directions of anticipation and reflections. Very positive use of
breathing/exhalation process you've got going on here!

The Third Candle
I hear this as quite meditative. Great depth and resonance in the sound. A very interesting piece with some very interesting harmonies.

Meditative
Thanks. I think this is the best one of the set so far.

Btw, the only harmony that was clearly premeditated is the final chord: from low to high C-Bb-F#. Everything else is just the way it happened.

Third candle
More sombre than the the 2nd candle, I think, because of the lower tones of the instruments. Reflective, spiritual, as I presume you intended. Fine work, Vic.

Starting my day looking out my window at afresh blanket of snow and listening to this takes away any anxieties ... like a cleansing of the senses
to start my day... nice one ... very peaceful.

A splendid addition to the cycle
Just when I thought it was using standard harmonies you drift away from them.

Nicely done.

The Third Candle
I agree with the other comments about its meditative quality. The few points of dissonance only add to the depth. The sound you get is wonderfully warm and expressive. Is this something you wrote out (as in mapped out each part before playing). Neither here nor there, just interested in the process. Like it either way.

Map
This sort of piece is written organically. I play a couple of measures of one part, lay a couple of measures of another part on top, third part ditto. One part may have a few measures more than the others, so that becomes the starting point of the next phrase. Repeat until long enough. Gradually I get a feeling for where the overall architecture is going, so whatever new phrase is recorded has to fit that.

Meaning no slight,
I imagine this is what music played in royal courts sounded like because they didn't have complex instruments. But, they did rely on skill and you have that, as you have proven time after time. Awesome control and fine sensibility that envelopes the listener in other worldly experience. You are very generous to share your performance and your plan. Thank you.

royal courts
I have written a bunch of recorder pieces that are intended as court dances, but this is intended as (a movement in a) religious cycle. The idiom is a mix of old influences and occasional modern crunchy sounds. It's not authentic anything but Diesel music :-) Glad you like it.
