His Name is Jesus

Description
I wanted this song to be a musical telling of Jesus in Jerusalem during his ministry as told by several observers living at that time who saw him or heard about him. Initially, I was only going to have one track of clarinet interweaving melody and harmony throughout the song. BUT,by mistake (or Devine intervention), another clarinet track I had intended to discard played during editing and created a whole new texture of harmonies blended with melodies. So, I left it "as is" and am sharing it with you. You can also watch the video version here. http://youtu.be/Z4k4brQxc_Y

Lyrics
HIS NAME IS JESUS

Verse 1

Did you hear He walks on water? Storms cease at His command.
Did you see him touch that leper, when we turned our backs and ran?
Did you see Him in the temple, when He made the sellers flee?
Did you hear Him speak of heaven, on the hill near Galilee?

His name is Jesus.

Verse 2

Did you see the lame man walk, when He said "pick up your bed"?
Did you hear He heals the blind? Have you seen Him raise the dead?
Did you see Him with his cross, on the road to Calvary?
Did you see Him when He stumbled, when He fell upon His knees?

CHORUS

His name is Jesus - He is our Savior.
He is the Glory of our God who touched the earth.
His name is Jesus - He is our Savior.
He is the Glory of our God who reigns in us.

Verse 3

Did you hear Him bless the thief, hanging at His side?
Did you see the people mock Him, see Him crucified?
He died for us they say, in 3 days rose again.
He is the Lamb of God, who takes away our sins.

CHORUS

His name is Jesus - He is our Savior.
He is the Glory of our God who touched the earth.
His name is Jesus - He is our Savior.
He is the Glory of our God who reigns in us.

His Name is Jesus
The picking and guitar tone brought "Pilot's Dream" from Jesus Christ Superstar to mind. Lovely song. The clarinet parts are sweet additions.

The old Cat Stevens was one of my favorites - I haven't listened to any of his recent music though. Thanks for your comments!

Name
I like this-- especially the melody in the refrain & the clarinet. It lends this a Klezmer lilt. I could also hear this as a modal Appalachian (fiddle & clawhammer banjo) tune.

Thank you John for your comments. I love the appalachian sound - and a good reason to learn banjo and fiddle! Brad

Love the Jewish flavor...
of this song and the simple question structure in the lyrics. Clarinets shine. A nice "mistake" to bring both takes together. Nice touch to bring in the tambourine...

Cheers

I'm encouraged to hear your comment about the tambourine - I was very pleased to have discovered the importance of it during editing. Thanks Jack. Brad

Nicely told.
I hear some old world sound like Klezmer type music. After all, Jesus was Jewish. Nice. Thanks.
