Lyrics
Spill the grain
One dig one dug
Light the fire
Glazed eyes in the gray light
Sassafras, sage, silverweed, cinnamon
Crazed eyes in the gray light
Fergi writes the name on a slip of paper
Burns the paper in the flame of a new white candle
Fergi tries to understand
The cows become lost
The cows become deceived
The cows graze
The cows stampede
The cows graze
The cows stampede
The cows become lost
The cows become deceived
New values on the breakfast tray
Dogs begin to bark
Fergi dreams about the summertime
Dogs dancing in the moonshine
Howling in the dark
Fergi tries to understand
Help us
One to dig one to dug
The herd is lost
The herd is deceived
The herd grazes
The herd stampedes
Spill the grain
Yea, all right, now, now all right...
What's it gonna be girl?
Daisy, Daisey give me your answer do
Make up your mind...
Burning up to the grain house drag
Money falling from the sky
No reason to ask her why
The Man done robbed the riches, buy and buy and buy
Brand new Chevrolet, beep beep
A mortgage she don't have to pay
Give me dat EBT
Doing the grain house drag

Fergie tries to understand. So do I... but it doesn't detract from a close encounter with the genuine Daug experience. As always, it is worth the price of admission to worship at the Daug house (or is it now the Cow Shed?). No doubt about it, I am a cow. Take care, Peter.

Hello Peter
Thank you for your support. The admission is free at the dog house. Your on your own for worship, but I get the idea. What's so hard to understand? Straight forward... it is what it is.

Music on another level...
... which I don't always comprehend, but always interests and entertains. Amazing sounds, filters, whammers, what-cha-ma-call-its, and what-nots.

The Daug abides...

Hey Jack
Thanks for your support and kind comments. Just trying to make something you can shuffle around too... The section after the incense is burned features the beat from the popular dance "The Dougie". Very funny in context... After the tune Daisy is deconstructed there is a section you can do the 80's fav the Neutron Dance too... it's a dance chance!

Well I love this, probably because it reminds me of Frank Zappa - I'm just totally fascinated by it. Superb track.

The grain
will spill forever. Until, of course, it doesn't.

This is an interesting cut, Daug: the drive doesn't let up (or even seem to change it's inexorable pulse), and the "grain"s began to sound like "gray"s to my aging ears and I began to conceive of the whole thing as an exercise in grays. I will take a copy, and listen with fresh ears in the morning. I'm certainly glad you are still here, doing what you do!

Love,

MoM

Hello MoM...
Nice to see you in the house. The grain has been spilling forever. Once the grain is on the floor evil is confounded. Once the incense is burned evil withdraws. The burning of the name and the iconography of the candle are antics from the white magic playbook. Of course you understand. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to listen and comment. I have missed you here.

Hello Tim
Thanks for stopping. That Fergi you mention is a cartoon character, lol. This mix is a plain jane. Around mix ten or so I went back and started to add horns. Then I couldn't hear the thing anymore and had to stop. Your dead on about the mp3, this sounds great on my sound card without itunes compression. I have 50 or so pieces of ensemble work waiting for itunes to relent on the red book standard. The problem will only be addressed when storage is no longer an issue.

Hello Stan
I try to keep it interesting for ya. Over your head? Na. Simply allow yourself to become unfixed in time. Imagine yourself viewing the scene 50 years ago. A hundred years ago. Measure the socio-economic aspirations of what thinking people have referred to as The Herd since the 19th century. Look at the picture I supplied. The cows are in the middle of the road right where they always are... Truly, it is what it is...

I've no idea
what's going on here but it's very effective!

The lyrics alone are stand out. Brilliantly put together. So many levels and textures.

Stands back in amazement :-)

Cheers

wow
very psychedelic, really like the structure and the way the parts fit together. it starts weird and gets delightfully weirder with the "grain house drag" part which is also quite catchy.
bravo!

Ah, well thanks for the listen my friend, appreciate your kindness. Delightfully weirder? How do you illustrate the absurd- but with the absurd? Yeah!
Shopworn phrases and all, it is what it is.

Yes Fergie I have been here since the place opened. In fall 2009, I erased the 60+ tunes I had posted since day one. The community here had changed, becoming hateful and repressive, and I needed to respond appropriately. What happened?... [see more]
