Description
early last november i was jamming around and this song emerged. the next day i recorded the bulk of the music.... then it sat. finally got around to finishing it up this last weekend. i sure get lazy at times.

a little tribute to ufo's, bigfoot and that odd looking stuff on the dinner plate

Lyrics
Can't Explain

something to see, nothing to say
maybe words can't explain
did you see what happened today
plenty of pictures from the scene
did you see what happened today

somethings can't be explained
bit of a mystery remains
who know what to say
just maybe
and i… can't explain
and i … can't explain

did you hear the news today
boy did they have plenty to say
ears are ringing all over town
the rumors are flying, making the rounds
ears are ringing all over town

somethings can't be explained
bit of a mystery remains
who know what to say
just maybe
and i… can't explain
and i … can't explain

there is plenty of static in the air
nerves are frayed, something is out there
bite your tongue on what you would say
somethings can never be explained
deep down you know it can happen again

somethings can't be explained
bit of a mystery remains
who know just what to say
just maybe
and i… can't explain
and i … can't explain

Liking the guitar mimicking the vocals and the driving bass. Unexplaining the unexplainable... Donald Rumsfeld might have a go :-) Nice one, Vic. Thanks, Peter.

the melody of the guitar line was to strong to compete with so i followed that. i wasn't sure if i should sing low or high so i went with both

Outstanding track. Great riffs to build the vocal melody from. I always love listening to the way you orchestrate guitar parts. Each part and tone compliment each other perfectly. Your production, mix, and mastering are always so pro (I'm sure I've said that about several of your tracks).

i continue tweeking the virtual amp settings up to the final mix. most of the time it's dialing back distortion for a bit cleaner edgier tone. fundamental overtones can kill a mix

Love those jangly guitars. Good drums, too. Excellent guitar solo - love the tone of it. Neat vocal harmonies. Full production. Good one, Vic!

Very nice upbeat tune, Vic. Cool sounding solo, in fact all your guitars have a great tone. The feel is slightly different than what I'm used to with your stuff, although it still very much sounds like VH - thanks Vic - I enjoyed this!

Great groove. Really liked what you did with the drums. (The thing I have the hardest time with.)
Guitars are always top notched. Another one for your Triple LP Best Of album I keep waiting for.

midi keyboard drums, usually 3 tracks for that. the lyrics came last, if i had the working title when i started this song i would of thrown in a brief chord progression of the who song..... i keep waiting for those albums as well

cranked amp
a mix of virtual amps with a edgy gain. plus i used a native instrument driver plug in on a couple tracks, that once dialed in gave a great overdrive tone.

I like...
...the whole song: the idea of the lyrics, the insistent beat; the guitar work. I found the vocals to be a bit "fuzzy" on my side. Don't know if that was intentional, but something a bit clearer would really work for me. (Lyrics remind me a little of "A Day In The Life" ... that's a good thing.)

at times my vocals can be fuzzy. might depend on the time of day or the key the song is... i really can't explain that either :-)

First off, I like the lyrics. Theres so much to like about this tune ... the vocals work great and I like when you sang the high low part ... the drum beat pulls you in at the start with your cool guitars ... good job on the drums. Excellent mix, excellent performance, excellent song!

doubling
Interesting how you double the vocals with (multiple?) guitars. It's a device that my idol Todd Rundgren is fond of too. That, and the octave doubling in the voice, makes for a very nifty texture.

thanks for the time to give this a listen. i kept reducing the gain to the point of just a good semi clean crunch. seems to make it easier to get a nice bite to the guitars

one reason why the song sat around for some time, was that i kept thinking how to counter the music vocally. i finally figured you couldn't be done, by me at least... so i went for following the guitar lines
