Description
Latest completed song. For the first time ever I decided not to record vocals with my SM58, instead using my Zoom Q3HD as a condensor mic and a windshield made from a pair of tights. I think the result is far better (although effects on the vocals hide the quality a bit) than my usual approach and I'll be doing it this way every time now.

Looking for any feedback on the mix/master!

Enjoy,
- Aemyn

Lyrics
i've walked the lonely road
crossed the flood waters on my own
i've loved and lost and believe
a true man would find his own way home

so
don't say to me, don't claim to be
lost just cos you are alone
people who look for help
in the lonely places cannot be controlled

-

it's the end of the story
you wrote
it's the ending
you chose

no don't take me
no don't take me

down with you

-RIFF

where can we go when we can't be honest
we lose the hold and it stacks upon us
dissapear into darkness, you go
flailing and falling you'll lose control

there's a side of me that needs to protect
this reality fights me endless
take me far from these cold stares
dissapear the evil cutting holes in your nightmares

-

it's the end of the story
you wrote
it's the ending
you chose

No
don't take me,
NO.
don't take me,
down with you

i've walked the only road
the lonely ones should walk on their own
i've lost it all and believe
true men would still find their own way home

I like this a lot. This has all kinds of passion. Great drums and guitar work. The vocals are perfect in spots and flawed in others but I think that makes this all the more special.

I like the acoustic guitar that starts this - it makes the entry of the big guitars even more powerful in contrast. Big vocal. Lots in the arrangement. Powerful rocker!

Im not the metal fan I used to be - I guess my ears just can't take all that distortion anymore lol. However I enjoyed this song. I think it is intelligently put together, and has lots of twists, turns, peaks and valleys to keep the listener engaged throughout.

You asked for feedback, so for what it's worth: Mix is decent, but I think it lacks fullness. I listened in phones, and to my ears the guitar is right down the middle with no ambience whatsoever to give it width in the stereo spectrum. Perhaps that is the sound you are going for, but if it were my call I'd double track those guitars and pan them hard left and right. Heck I might even double track each side for a total of 4 guitars going. I'd mix that up a bit as the song needs some dynamic movement, and there are certainly other things you could do with the guitars to give them a fuller richer sound, but I'd definitely start with double tracking them. This song would kick ass - even more than it does now!

Just my opinion. Enjoyed this song a lot - glad you posted - thanks!

This song is
is pretty awesome. I have to agree with Sigmund though. Lacking that fullness. I think it's a combination of not doubling guitars as well as that I can't hear any bass at all. I think those two elements are essential. Other wise the guitar work and vocals are fantastic. Overall, well done.
