Description
Today (3-23-13) my wife Kathy and I have been living together for 30 years. This is a song I wrote as a commitment to her and our relationship. The song is from 1989.

The basic track was recorded on a four track cassette player so you're going to hear some tape hiss. I updated with a couple of guitars and electric piano and ran it through Garage Band.

I hope you like it.

Lyrics
Long Hard Road

I was there when the dye was cast,
When they broke the mold.
Put the love of heaven inside your heart
And wrapped your soul in gold.

I’ll be there when the moon comes out
Stay all through the night.
When the sun erases all of the stars
We’ll be shinning bright

It’s a Long Hard Road
There’s enough for two
Whether hot asphalt or cold concrete
I’ll be there for you.

I’ll be there when the tides come in
When the oceans overflow
Protect your from the tidal waves
And the undertow.

It’s a Long Hard Road
There’s enough for two
Whether hot asphalt or cold concrete
I’ll be there for you.

Love’s the only thing people know nothing about
As they run from pole to pole,
First they scream, then they cry, then they shout
They know what they want
When they want it
How to get power and clout
But love’s the only thing people know nothing about

It’s a Long Hard Road
There’s enough for two
Whether hot asphalt or cold concrete
I’ll be there for you.

I’ll be there when you feel alone
When the world has left you cold
Hold your hand, caress your heart
Sleep inside your soul

It’s a Long Hard Road
There’s enough for two
Whether hot asphalt or cold concrete
I’ll be there for you.

Thanks Bandit
So good of you to take the time to listen and comment. I doubled the harmonics on the electric piano, but just to fill them out a bit. I tried to keep it simple without a lot of embellishment. Too many toys to play with. Glad you liked it.

Thanks again for your time and thoughts.

Great intro
to a fine song.

Lovely guitar work and arrangement.

A John Fogerty feel about it.

Cheers

Dick

Congratulations on the 30 years, Tim. My partner, Judy, and I have been together for just a bit over 30 years, too. Time flies. Good song. Nice mix of the old and new. One of the truly great declarations of love, "Whether hot asphalt or cold concrete, I’ll be there for you..." :-) Thanks, Peter.

Tim,
I haven't been around here is quite a long time. How funny I should check in today and find this. Marriage as a road? I would have to agree, its a great analogy. Been married 33 years. I like this song and its atmosphere. I'd love to hear you do a bit heavier version of this. Same vocal, heavier driving instrumentation would really get the blood moving.
Keep Rockin'
