Description
Trying out a new voicing program for the first time. The cello section was the first chord progression I came up with while tinkering. I liked it so much that I allowed this song to grow out from that. It is nowhere near the level of precision I would like, but this is as far as my abilities take me as of yet. I hope you enjoy it!

Nice
Very good start, with the program but also with this tune, which I think could be developed further. At least I felt sad when it ended so soon... Especially liked the bells, but nice feeling all around :-)

Thanks and take care,
Henke

High praise...
Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad it left you wanting more. I will be working on developing it. I'm afraid my musical knowledge will have to grow a little before I really know what to do with it. Thanks again!

Beautiful composition.
Has the ring of a military tune in places, like something for a war-film soundtrack. Well crafted mood piece that could stand development into something much bigger. Well done even as it is.

Wistful
composition. Great use of your sound palette. I too especially love the bells. I can hear a much fuller orchestra coming in to take it to a big finish. Lovely.

That picture is overlooking Lynville Gorge, NC. I just finished a climb at Table Rock, NC. That is one of the views from the top. If you don't know where I am talking about, Google it. Very pretty place. Nice half-day Trad climb with a walk-out.

Stirring and triumphal without being jingoistic. Very nice work, Marshall. Your abilities with the software are pretty good as is :-) It pulls all the right emotion strings for a successful soundtrack. Enjoyed, Peter.

In Remembrance
I echo one of the comments above - it reminds me of a moving military tune for some reason. I can imagine this being used in the background of a Ken Burns documentary on Civil War soldiers or something like that. Perhaps it is the drums which you added at just the right times (in my opinion). Anyway, very nice piece!

Funny you should say...
I have actually been watching a Ken Burns documentary on WWII lately. Right after I finished this song, I started to watch it. Maybe I'll see it played on a WWII documentary one day. Thanks for listening!

Marshall, this is just GORGEOUS!! that lovely original chord progression is goose-bump producing. i like the transition to snares, and the beautiful builds along the way. totally belongs in a movie soundtrack! what software program is this?? you forgot to tell us!!

Thanks so much!
The software is Native Instruments Kontakt 5. The problem is, however, my base program that I lay tracks with is 32-bit, and so 4 instrument tracks eat through all my available RAM...need to buy the new protools or something.

I am really glad you enjoyed it. I can see the LOTR influence in there too. Funny, I hadn't really thought about it, but it probably did affect my composition to some extent.
