Hello
Thanks a lot for the compliment, man. I've been working on this one for quite some time, but couldn't really figure out how to finish it. Then this outro came to me and I hope it turned out okay. Peace.

That guitar tone, your note choices, and your phrasing are stellar. That they're played over a great piece of music makes them even better (if that's possible).

Wow
That's a lot of kind words, sir! Now I have to come clean before this gets out of hand. As I mentioned several times in other threads, I can't play real guitar and most of my guitar sounds come from iPad garageband smart guitar. Sliding your fingers on the touchscreen is a lot of fun, and sometimes you can give some nuances to the notes, but I always have a lot of respect for real guitar players like you. Also, the first guitar solo here comes from several loops, and I spliced it together to go with the song. The ending solo is me playing on iPad. Thanks a lot.

very chill
Im jealous of the mix, like the uplift kind of soars in some spots btw the guitar really rocks in this
Has a Yellow Magic Orchestra feel to it if they were more rock
its a keeper! thanks!

Hey
Speaking of the mix, almost everything was done in iPad, and Logic was used just to add some envelopes and remove clicks. Somehow, songs sound better when I master tracks on iPad than in Logic. Such a waste of an expensive software, lol. Maybe I don't know how to use it right. Thanks a lot for the kind words. Cheers.

Very cool
and nicely done. Kept my interest until about the 3:30-4:30 point where I drifted away for a bit but refocused for the big finish. Gotta love these new-fangled toys ;-)

I thought about removing that 'bridge' part too, but I've done enough compact songs, and I wanted to do something different this time. Hence, that meandering part remained. Also the theme of this song (if there's any) could be you have to go through good and bad to finally get to the good part. So there. :) Thanks a lot for the comment and checking out this one.

Cool work!
Starts slow and builds nicely, something that is hard to do. Well done on that guitar too, it sounds like a real one.

Hey
I don't know if it uses real guitar samples, but that iPad smart guitar is the closest thing I could find to the real guitar sound. Thanks for the kind words and checking this out.

Sounding pretty fine through my headphones, Jay. Creative, contemporary, progressive rock. You did a fine job with the guitar lead loops. Fine mix, too. Real solidity. Good use of space. A very enjoyable listen. Thanks, Peter.

Mind blowing
It blows my mind that you can come up with something like this without really playing an instrument! WOW! I can't help but wonder what you would do if you got those fingers working on real guitar strings! This is outstanding.

Well
If I got my fingers on real guitar strings, I would strum simple F code, and that would be about it, haha. Maybe when I get more free time, I will try learning to play the real guitar. Thanks a lot for the kind comments and checking this one out. Cheers.

No need
to use a guitar if you can play like this using your ipad. You went somewhere else; for a while it sounded more middle eastern. I enjoyed the entire experience. Bright and hopeful piece. Thanks.

Soft proggy goodness. You've really outdone yourself with this one. The transitions are well thought out, all the mood changes. That guitar is impressive. Lots of nice details. Very well done. You must be pretty happy with this. I would be.

Very cool
Twists and turns from genre to genre but keeps it interesting. Like the mix of iPad and Logic - I do that too frequently :) On the iPad you might want to check out Guitarism - its limited to acoustic sounds but I like its acoustic even better than the GB one. Great piece!

ipad guitars
Hello, fellow iPad jammer! I've toyed a bit with Guitarism recently, and I found its sound very attractive. And when used with audiobus+ampkit, it can make some heavy guitar sound as well. Might take some time, but I may use it in one of my song someday. Thanks for checking this one out and kind comments. Cheers.

Mostly GB on iPad?
This is a great track. So this was done mostly on the iPad using GB? Any other instruments used? It;s nice to hear a longer more "epic" track done on an iPad.

Thank you!
Well, yes it's mostly GB on iPad. For some synth parts, I used some USB midi keyboard connected to iPad for recording, but synth sound itself comes from GB ipad. For 'Aerie' chorus synth in the ending, I used Soundprism pro, another iPad app.

After finishing basic tracks on iPad, I added some volume envelopes and synth loops in Logic for atmosphere. Also, as I mentioned in my earlier reply, the first guitar solo is spliced and edited from several apple loops in Logic, and I added some amp effect to match the song. Thanks for listening and generous comments. Peace.

I like the way you develop this - lots of interest as you add or take away instruments. You've done a great job with the iPad guitar- has good tone and tasty lines. Sweet ending. Much enjoyed!

Ok, I was enjoying this until that Indian string instrument (sitar or santoor?) came in at 1:24. An apple loop? The sound was incongruous, and has been overused. The rest of the track is quite cool.

loops
Well, I've been using some default (and maybe overused) apple loops from my very first posting, and was open about it because they give me access to some wide range of textures and atmosphere otherwise unattainable to me. But I understand how some of them can sound overused and unfaithful, especially to real musicians like you. Thank you for stopping by and your honest comment.

I haven't heard your stuff before, but if this is any indication, I'm very impressed. That you did most of this on an iPad is even more impressive. I've tried to use my iPad for song-making, but always fall into a repetitive pattern that I can't break. You've managed to avoid too much repetition here, and that's quite a feat. By the same token, I think the constant shifting in mood and instrumentation takes away from the cohesiveness of the tune. The guitar sound is quite amazing for the iPad's limitations. I think the use of loops like you've done here - splicing and dicing I mean - is a really valid form of recording (I occasionally use it myself when my soloing skills aren't up to what I hear in my head). The guitar soloing certainly sounds good here. Overall a cool track - might have been interesting to try some singing _ maintaining interest with a purely instrumental track can be quite daunting.
Good post!
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Hello
Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comments. If only I could sing half as well as you, and write lyrics half as witty, I could try singing. But I don't see that happening in the near future... Even my own family can't stand my singing, haha. Also, many have pointed me toward more cohesive songwriting, including you. So that's something I will work on more. Thanks, and cheers.

Such a pleasant sound...
It is rich from the first notes, that bass, especially, punctuating the music landscape with such clarity. You have mixed in a lot of sounds here, but do so with intelligence and a sense of purpose. In some ways, though, this is a pretty flat plane harmonically and I was hoping it might jumb off somewhere else for a tangent and then return. But what DOES happen with such effectiveness is that gradual increase in intensity and volume as you add layers to your work. This is more of a rhythm track than a melodic one, but that's (way!) okay because it works beautiful on that level. Very much enjoyed listening to your beautiful work.
