Description
This is a clash of two of my greatest loves in music: minimalism and epic buildups.
Enjoy!

Wow!
These years in film scoring school clearly show. The clarity and focus in your composition is fantastic. Also the pacing and structure is flawless to me. And while the orchestra packs quite a punch it feel like a natural progression from the beautiful soundscape in the beginning.

In the beginning I was impressed every time you posted something, now I'm just reassured that your talent with the right kind of effort can go anywhere, musically and otherwise. Glad you keep posting here!

Btw the balance and how you handle the orchestral section is particularly good. How do you split up the string, brass section etc when you create the orchestral part?

Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words and your support and encouragement for - well - ever since I've known you.

I didn't really put that much effort into the string/brass arrangements but in the buildup the staccato strings are basically cellos and violas, with then a 2nd viola section playing in thirds with the 1st, and deepened with a long double bass octave. Also there is just a deep horn crescendo through the second part of the buildup (those digital horn players have impressive lungs!)
When the whole thing explodes it's basically the same relationship between the instruments - only everything a bit louder and more powerful. In the latter half of the "main theme" I just added some staccato french horns for an extra punch alongside the added percussion.

But thanks so much for the listen and the kind words :)

Build up
Hardly a clash at all. The minimalism seems made for this sort of cinematic build up. Bravo!

Nice photo. Even nicer composition. Lovely, subtle, atmospheric piece, Einar. I felt I was waiting for the sun come up. The moment of breakthrough was worth the wait. Fine post. Thanks for sharing your work here. Regards, Peter.

That opening section...
...reminds me very much of some of the Fripp and Eno things from long ago...simple and cycling, with small additions and variations...

And then the orchestration brings in the dynamics, but in a long, slow fade in... Pretty neat... and yes, very cinematic... I mean, I could hunt orcs to it... Or, you know, cross mist-covered mountains...
