Lyrics
Why?

Why do people always try to put you down?

Why do people hate you when you act the clown?

You, you're just being you.

You
You're not the only one to make the news

You
You're gonna make it anyhow

You

You have your life ahead to pay your dues

You

Don't let people bring you down (You can hold my hand)

You
All you need is you (Make that sad song good)

You
The inner light will erase the frown (That and Strawberry fields)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Lively beat, I like the sound of the guitars. Energy in the vocal. Not so sure about the swirly synths, but I do like the overall sound. Good one, Graham!

The synths! The synths!
The synth sound was the hook that led to the song, so I couldn't abandon it. I'm not a keyboard guy and usually eschew them in favour of more guitar, but this time I simply could not murder my darling. Thanks for being first, Phillip.

Great arrangement! Right away it struck me as a Harrison solo recording produced by Jeff Lynne. Downloaded!

Mission Accomplished
That was what I had in mind as I recorded it, Alec. So, whoopee, and thanks!

Perfectly in the period.
Could have come from the 1960s or early 1970s via time machine! Bubbles along nicely in a jolly groove, sings quietly and reminds me of about sixty different things. Maybe that last says more about me than the track, but it is a good track lol!

I think it did!
The time machine is my brain. I've been trying to be a bit more conventional, to see if I can write a pop song. No middle eights yet! Thanks for listening, Mr Angel.

Very Harrisongish!
Nice song and very reminiscent. Maybe a little more Rutley but its pretty damned fun either way! :) Love it.

Neil Innes
is never far from my thoughts, especially when I'm composing a 60's pastiche. I think it was more Wilbury this time, but that's just splitting hairs. Thanks for stopping by, Michael.

The beat...
...is a perfect constant in this number. Though the harmonic changes are predictable (as most of the 60's music is), it is still pleasant to listen to. The tune and performance highlight the positive message of your lyrics. I've always liked that notion of taking "a sad song and making it better." You do that here.

I couldn't find any others!
There's a limit to the number of beats in GB, and I didn't feel like constructing a new one, hence the same loop all the way through. When I win the lottery I'll hire a drummer. Meanwhile I'll save up for a ticket. Thanks for listening, Paul.

Quite deliberate
My first effort was to accompany George, filling in the missing slide on "Mother Divine." I can't publish for obvious reasons, so now I have to write my own Harrisongs. This one sounds to me like a Ringo tune that George finished off. Ta for your time.

I
love the beat and very reminiscent of the 60's.
Great vocals and I like the Harrison vibe, nice guitar playing too!
A wonderful song and very much enjoyed.

G in the groove
Keep knocking the tunes out. Now that you are there and can manipulate the components, all a friend can say is, "Yea, yea yea."

Pat yourself on the back

...as your remarks encouraged me to do what Sam (Dixon) suggested long ago, but I didn't have time to do before. There are a few more tunes brewing as I write.

I'm definitely
getting the Harrison connection too. Lovely cheerful feel even though the lyrics are also a bit dark.

I am also picking up the Harrison influences very strongly. Classic homage to a period in time that is going to be the Mozart of the 22nd century. Thanks, Peter.

George owns slide guitar
Isn't that odd? Whenever anyone hears slide guitar, they think of George and not Ry Cooder or David Lindley. George had the hits, but so did the Eagles. Anyway, I'm happy you enjoyed it, Peter, and I agree about the Mozart thing. Interest in The Beatles and their achievements is only just beginning.

George, Ry and David
I think, to me, George used simple slide lines very effectively in pop songs whereas Ry Cooder and David Lindley (both whom I admire greatly) use slide in a more traditional (?) context. I can't imagine early Jackson Browne without Lindley - Late For The Sky - fantastic album. Cooder is a genius. I still listen to many of his albums on vinyl. Take care, Peter.

Still fumbling
after all these years, but it's fun. I've spent most of the summer improving my production skills. It's been most worthwhile. I want to do a song that my wife can sing, as she has a much better voice than me, or most other folks, really. Thank you for your interest.

George would be proud
A good summer tune complete with choral pyramid and filtered guitar break. Nicely done Graham. The background voice in the second part makes for a good counter to the lead vocal. A nostalgic listen.
