Description
Another bible folk song - this one about the apostle Paul and his conversion on the road to Damascus. Like all my songs, they are written (and make more sense) with video accompaniment and can be viewed at www.youtube.com/user/bsoland1. This one is pretty sparse, just 2 guitar parts, vocal and GB bass. As always, your comments are most helpful and always appreciated!

Lyrics
We knew the man as Saul - now he goes by Paul
He left this town - years ago
He was here when Stephen died - didn't turn away
like some others - no tears at all
Paul was the man - they didn't hesitate
to send him out - to calm things down

What happened to you Paul
when you had the fall
we don't know you - anymore
They say it was the blow
to your head but we all know
you heard something - on the road
made you turn - not look back
leave your hoe - preach the one - crucified

Paul sang the song of messiah and salvation
in the towns - far away
Beaten and arrested - hard times always cherished
"win the race: - Paul would say
I'm not a betting man - but my money is on Paul
his words - dance in my head!

What happened to you Paul
when you had the fall
we don't know you - anymore
They say it was the blow
to your head but we all know
you heard something - on the road
mad you turn - not look back
leave your home - preach the one.....crucified

I really
like listening to your voice. It has a unique and warm tone. I don't write without rhyme. I think it is harder to do what you. Thanks.

Thanks Paula
Thank you Paula for your comments. I am just beginning to write songs that don't always rhyme - and sometimes it does feel unnatural. But, I'm finding a sense of freedom getting out of the box and using the words I want without having to find a rhyming alternative. Thanks again for listening!

What Happened to You Paul?
A new genre, Brad - Gospel Ballad. You have done a fine job conveying the story and the guitar accompaniment is subtle and tasteful. Enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

Thanks Peter
I so appreciate your comments Peter. I admit I have been at a loss to find an established genre that accurately describes what I write. Gospel Ballad is much more descriptive!

Bible Folk..
What a gentle and sweet way to tell Bible stories effectively to an audience who would drink it up in this format! The fact that your arrangements and playing are top-shelf make it all the better. Plus, your mellow and pleasing voice is so easy to listen to... the spare arrangement is a benefit here, I think. You do't want too much in the way of the fine lyric... Very well done!
