Loan Arranger

Description
The crash and burn of the recent Depp movie intertwines with the financial disaster of recent times. The "globalise" chorus mutated by accident into a litany of "Lies". It fitted, so I kept it.

Lyrics
Loan Arranger

I can't afford no loan arranger

Globalise, maximise, marginalise, marmalise
Lies, lies, lies, lies

What's wrong with you?

I left out the kitchen sink because I ran out of RAM. Thanks for giving it a listen, KC.

The Loan Arranger arrives to rescue us! Interesting instrumentation. Varied arrangement. The kitchen sink might have been a nice little coda? The repetition in the lyrics suggests pain. Powerful work, Graham!

Spiralling down the plughole
I've been listening to Bruce Soord's Pineapple Thief a lot recently. There's a man who is sparing with words. He lets the music tell the story, and it works a treat. (Check out "We Love you" or "So we row" for proof). Plus, I couldn't think of any more words. Always pleased to see you, Philip.

Thank Sam
... and Llarion and Daugrin for putting me on the right path. I tested this in the patented Honda musicometer and it sounded awesome - much better than the distorted load of crap that some guy was blasting from his Nissan. So, there we are. Buy a Honda. Where was I? Oh, yes. Thank you for your encouragement, Alec.

Is it rock?
Is it reggae? I have no idea. I listen to everything, even polka. But I'm glad it's your kind of thing, Mr Skean. Thanks for listening.

It sounds terrific in the Honda Acoustic laboratory, I must say. Mix low and master high is my motto now.

GREAT imaging!!
Man, sonically, this is the best I've heard you do, really compelling listen. Says a lot with a stark economy of words. The angry reggae is really effective. I think a fun coda would have been a toilet flushing. :) Wicked, deft piece!

Thinking inside the box
Putting sounds into their respective compartments makes all the difference. That and paying attention to good advice. Thanks, Llarion.

Ovationy goodness
The acoustic guitar almost gets lost after the intro, but it makes a reappearance towards the end. I was looking for a dalek voice for the later bit, but ran out of RAM, and it's busy enough as it is. I'm happy you liked it, Mark.

Mayhem!
That about sums it up. I'll keep this version and try to do a dub version to increase the dynamics. In its present state it's relentlessly raucous. Glad you enjoyed it, Mr Bacon.

I loved the Lone Ranger
... in a manly, gruff sort of way. I particularly liked when he dressed up as a Dutch settler and adopted a silly accent. I'm not too keen on the shenanigans of the bankers who dropped us all in it a few years back, but I'm always happy to get compliments from esteemed MacJammers like yourself.

Hi-Yo Graham
Didn't see the movie. I tend to avoid summer blockbusters, based on many years of being meh-ified. My time is much better spent listening to your music. Here's another worthy example. The quality of this production is through the roof (of the Honda, I guess). Love the arrangement, and the booms. Really fine.

Glad you enjoyed it, Les. That's probably it for me until the next vacation, as I'll be busy telling kids what to do and grading their interesting essays. Be seeing you.

Richard Greene
was the star of the fifties version, but I don't remember much about it. I did think of putting "Hiyo, silver, away" at the end (note lack of capital letter) but didn't want to get sued by litigious Lone Ranger people, who I am sure haunt MacJams looking for inspiration. Thanks for your comments.

Impressive opening. You are in fine form, Graham. Keep railing against the (market) forces of evil. Someone has to protect us. (I'm not sure the subliminal Honda marketing is in keeping with the song, though :-)) Take care, Peter.

It's actually a Pioneer
doing most of the work. I'm not sure where the speakers are from. In future I will refer to it as HATS (Honda Audio Testing System). It confuses my wife when I go and sit in the car to listen to a song, when I have stereos everywhere in the house. When I finally manage to compose something suitable for her singing voice I think she will understand. Thanks for your support, Peter.

This is the first one where the contents, not the mix, need work. It needs lighter moments, nuance, and possibly cream buns. But you can hear everything I recorded, and I'm chuffed about that.

Yes - if it sounds good in HATS (Honda Audio Testing System) it's probably fit for human consumption. I've improved my monitoring system recently, but you still have to try songs on different systems to get the right balance.
