Shine on!
Oh, by the way... Which one's Pink?

Great track!

Thanks for the bulls eye id on the track. Not sure why it was left off.

I think I read this was another that Roy Harper offered to sing. Waters yelled, "Oh hell no you won't" before stormy out of Abbey Road. It remains on the shelf to this day.

My thoughts as well. And Syd wandered in during the recording and made off with the original master tapes.

I have some takes with Syd playing lead but he takes off and keeps setting his own tempo.

Not a clue...
...but my experience is pretty narrow. But this is, nevertheless, a very nicely-produced track especially regarding the pacing: nothing seems rushed and you just let the song play itself out in a natural, organic sort of way. The counterpoint between bass and guitar-steel-stringy-thing provides for an intelligent conversation that is engaging and focused. Quite a peaceful listen, too. Nice.

Patient pacing is something the band I am emulating was famous for. The guitar parts (and bass parts) are played on my piano, so it might not sound exactly like a guitar :)

I'm thinking
Animals more, if just from the opening keyboard. the guitar startled me for a second when it came in. but the playing itself is soooo melodic. tasty on a spit.

Sudden entrance is a bit like another track from my target album. But I have to agree now that the keys and rhythm match Animals a bit closer.

It could be
either Floyd or Parsons (iRobot?)

Either way they should have used this track in place of one of theirs.

Comes from the Parsons produced era. Thanks.

Guessing….
Parsons 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' comes to mind since it was still mainly non-synth instruments and you have that guitar solo over a repeating pattern BUT it's a much slower pace than Parsons typically uses. Soooo, I'd go with Pink Floyd, Animals. This sounds like a variant of Sheep from that album. And a good one Bill!

Instruments are not synched. Pace is as slow as is allowed in GB, it was fun learning how to play so slow.

OK
I can hear a lot of Floydian tones here, but I am not savvy enough to pick the album. It does the trick.

Definitely some effort at being Floydian here. Thanks for listening.

I haven't had time to be too prolific lately, so even though I finished this a month ago, I waited to release it with the challenge. Glad you like it.

Makes me want to start over
and make a new tune - if I could just get home. Pink Floyd "Animals" is my best guess - and a great album that gets overlooked too often. Really nice work here.

Has a darkness to it!
Kind of floats along. I found myself waiting for it to pick up dynamically. Lead may be a little loud. Really liked it! Thumbs up!

Lead may be a bit much in headphones. I do have some wild guitar lead takes but they didn't work as well. Thanks for the comments.

Elevator is from Wish You Were Here. I think Pink Floyd may have used a real elevator. I used a minimoog emulator and a fancy overdrive effect plug in.

Can't place it, but I'd go with Floyd, too. Love the minimalism of this cut. So spacey with just enough glue to keep it together. Very easy. Thanks!

Thanks for listening. I usually get in trouble when I do too many tracks, so minimal is either artistry or what I am capable of, either way, I am glad you like it.

I'd guess Pink with a touch of Allan Parsons ....are you playing the guitar via keys ... cool .... this track works real well ... the simplistic beds really keep the groove solid with the the assistance of the rhodes chords. I like this Bill. Makes me want to jam some leads to it.

If you want I can send the GB file, or a simplified version (not sure how well tracks based on Kontakt instruments travel) I have had a lot of fun jamming to this.

Great stuff Bill, very moody and very much enjoyed.

Glad you enjoyed. Lead is an undoctored take. Seems like I get more emotion when practicing more and time fixing less.

Very interesting Bill. They must have been pretty zoned out when they did this. I'm surprised they remembered it.

Lovely clean mix.

I like the pace. The groove of the backer is ripe for your melodic overlay. Restrained, thinking music. Thanks, Bill. Regards, Peter.

Somehow it's the bass that makes me say "that's it!".

Cool track. Definitely has that, hm, early 70s? vibe.
