Sometimes Confused

Description
before i started recording this song, i already had the idea to break up the chord arrangement to separate sections and adding different effects to each track. basically it is a three chord song with some chord variations throughout.

there are no synths or keyboard work on this. just some experimental effect work and one track i used a electro harmonix pog 2 to get the organ sound that you might hear.

originally i had different lyrics. however they were a bit more involving and wordy. they really didn’t fit the mood of the song either. so, i really simplified and went with something that fit that mood……. so no, i’m not really confused personally….well, maybe a little :-)… they just fit the mood of the song better.

Lyrics
Sometimes Confused

sometimes i don’t know what
what the world is coming to
maybe the world has lost it’s moral screw
but there’s not much i can do
sometimes i get so confused

sometimes i don’t feel right
but theres not much i can do
sometimes i can’t sleep at nights
but i try to pull through
sometimes i get so confused

sometimes i feel so confused
the idiots are on the loose
i can never really trust
on what they will do
sometimes i get so confused

Spacey, almost languid, Vic - if any song with lots of electric guitars can ever be called languid :-) The lyrics say it all. Fine work, as ever. Thanks, Peter.

Great stuff Vic ... like the ventures guitar sound ... cool experimentation with some of the guitar sounds ... a touch Floydish ... as Peter said ... the lyrics say it all ... your voice sounds different in this one but can't put my finger on it. Great work as always.
Cheers
I wonder what the image would look like if there were 2 cats running away in opposite directions ... can you post that picture on your next song?

You're making me suspicious...
...I mean, all those attempts to steal Dr Who's TARDIS, and officially no one has succeeded. However you are clearly able to summon the 1960s up at will, which makes me wonder. Or maybe you have your own time machine. My rambling way of saying, this is an amazing piece of skilled retro rock, please keep doing this.

It's
great to hear you playing at a slower tempo here Vic, very moody and a powerful number in my ears.
Love the guitar layers and the strong rhythm you are playing here.
Nice solo :-)
Very much enjoyed.

yeah, i think it has been quite some time since i have done a slower paced song. when i was working this out all was one guitar, then i thought what if i separate each part out and effect each part differently. a different angle i think.

Experimental sounds...
It's always nice to hear a new perspective in sound: here it's the jangly metallic sound that dominates. It is effectively jarring (does that make sense?). You certainly had me on edge. I think that was the intent. I did find the vocal to be awfully muddy-sounding. I wonder if that was intended. Everything else is pretty crystal.

i felt i have been getting a bit repetitious in recording songs, so a different approach. my voice is a little deeper than what normally is heard and i did a bit of delay.... so it was kinda intentional. chance are i might listen to it in a few weeks and want to change it

Nice mood
and laid back more than I've heard from you. I like that swimming effect, sounds a little like later Yes. For a 3 chord song it's elaborate and has a nice melody. Vocals are spot on. Dig it!

it has been some time since i have slowed the pace on a tune. i used quite a bit of the delay designer plug in to get some unique sounds going on.

Love it!
The Bowie-esque timing/groove slips are perfect wigth your vocal Vic.
Waiting expectantly for the solo ........... not at all disappointing :) I've always been inspired by your guitar sounds (Stevel is another who has the same effect on me), and this has set some challenges for me in my spare moments.
Great post (as always) - thanks, Neil

I like your walls of guitars. The beginning of this song, with the effected guitars is a bit very dense. Nifty though.

I get the impression the drums are hanging just a fraction behind the beat.
