Description
Over the years I've come to appreciate MacJams as one of the very few online communities with a heart. It's never been a problem for me that it's a comparatively small crowd sharing their music here (as opposed to soundcloud, bandcamp, facebook etc.) and I also don't think that anyone expects to be 'discovered' here or get a lucrative studio contract from posting here?

Easily overlooked, but a friendly online community is quite an accomplishment, especially when it's not just about cats or cupcakes. No offense to cats or cupcakes. As a result there little competition, lots of enthusiastic encouragement and fewer of the 'less than genuine' interactions you'd find on a more social media oriented website.

Rather we share music for the sake of it. A few years back I wasn't sure whether that was enough, but now I feel that it's not only 'ok' but something I value and appreciate.

It'll need some work to keep MJ going now (interns maybe? Simon;-), the website is often slow and I've read about a few issues that took a while to get resolved. But what if it's enough to encourage a few (older) members participate once again? I think it could quickly reassert itself as the vibrant, friendly music sharing platform we've come to enjoy for so many years.

All of that was probably said before, but I'm always late to the party:) Anyway, this is a bounce from a recent work session. Soon I should have a link to a nice video collaboration that I'm very happy with, but until then.

Amazing as always...
...but with an added bonus of your very accurate description.

MacJams was such an inspiration for me back in the days, moving me from the status of a dabbling teenager to my current status of a professional film composer working towards his masters degree - And I truly have MacJams to thank for a lot of that progress.

That being said - I really love your music, Parichayaka. Your music has a sense of nonchalance which makes any aspiring composer jealous and it should be an inspiration to everyone, especially considering the exceptionally high result you deliver every single time.

How you are not world famous by now is beyond me.

From a great fan who feels he'll never outshine you,
-Einar Sv.

Einar, you're not only an exceptional talent but apparently just as generous. When I started posting here you were one of the active member who convinced me that this is a good platform - with good music and a great attitude. These days it's simply inspiring to follow your career and listen to the outstanding music you keep creating. I really hope you'll continue to post here every once in a while.

There are a lot of proud MJ'ammers who can say they knew you before you were famous. I'm one of them!

Funk Inside a Magic Can
Love the beginning, like Funk inside of a can. Then the tastes of lush atmospheres swirls, as if fog and light are swirling from deep inside, creating sonic shadows, making the can Magic. Looking forward to the video link, but, truly, the stuff my imagination is conjuring due to your hip ear and perfect production, is good enough for me!

Can I call you 'Funkenstein'?
Your description is better than the track! Thanks for this cool comment, really appreciate it. 'Frankenfanny' is awesome btw - think about the new artist name I suggested - you already have one song that'd go perfectly with it.

Rich sound - so big that the bass reverberates somewhat in my headphones. Love the smooth lines of the synths and the gentle way you build the arrangement. Impressive music. I agree with the introductory comments, too!

For some reason, I'm thinking 'John Carpenter' film. Maybe it's the bed of the backbeat. Whatever; great music, luscious and spacious pads swirling around all the other sounds to create a beautiful scene. Fabulous mix, top music.

I agree with you about MJ, Pari. I also agree with you about sharing music for the sake of it - as a conversation starter, almost - and a creative outlet. The fact that there are people who seem to like what you create and are prepared to listen, comment and, sometimes, download, is an honour. You are a classic case in point. Your musical talent just shines. Thanks for sharing with us. Regards, Peter.

Setting the standard
as always.. top notch production and exquisite detail and control. This piece seems perfect for film .. for those fast moving shots from the air or a beautiful rolling landscape passing below, that just take your breath away.

Some Special Work Here...
I like how you put all these colours together, with
harmonic flow and flavour...
The bounce it has, keeps the hole thing moving nicely
nothing harsh tone wise, to distract you from it's movement takes style to do that...

I.....LIKE IT ALOT.....

Environmentally sound
It's sounds very urban to me. But that could be because I was listening to it with the windows open .. and the sounds of the city floated in and became a part of the experience. I had to play it several times to separate the inside from the outside.

Not that that mattered. Listening became a flexible, organic experience.

I've had that experience before - in my case it was a car alarm in the same key of a modern classical piece I was listening to. I thought 'brilliant!' and then felt like an idiot;)

I'll certainly give this a "heart" . . .
I think that the “MacJams RIP” thread is definitely “greatly exaggerated.”   As long as we have great music like this one, there is nothing to be concerned about.

You know, it is easy to diss a site because it looks, well, a bit old.   And because it might not be running on the world’s fastest hardware.   But what you really have to look at is, is the site (still) doing its job?   In the case of MJ, the answer is yes, and here is yet-another proving of it.

Love the subtle use of the ping-pong echo on the leading percussion track. Balance of sounds and drama is perfect as always. A really nice piece - rich in emotion and aural beauty.

Brilliant opening hook
Nice one Pari - there's a controlled tension and release here that would back film or TV, and it stands well on its own as a piece to listen to on its own with complete attention. The use of processed vocals with the pads is very cool where you get a nice breathing effect over the intro rhythmic synth. Everything is patiently rolled out and nothing is there in the sound bed without a reason. I like this a lot but then I don't think I've heard any of your work I didn't really like.

As to your comments about MJ, I am also nodding in alignment. Our community here seems like a great group with not just talent but also lots of encouragement and support for whatever direction their music takes them. It's way more personal than SoundCloud or FaceBook and there are relationships here where people care about each other and their welfare. My time interacting with folks here has done more to spur me on to learn and try new avenues than almost any other place I can think of and I'm very grateful.

Again nice post, thanks for the dload, and thanks too for keeping the bar high as to what we can aspire to.

Doug

Thanks Doug.
Very good observation about the quality of interaction - it's surprising how a few nice words can make a difference. I had no idea what to expect after my first post here in..when 2005 maybe? but I certainly didn't anticipate the amount of genuine support from so many people here.

Your quality amazes
It's been (better) said above but your work always impresses me, the big lush and still mysteriously meditative sound. That you're such a nice and humble person only add to the impression.

Thanks for everything!

A departure...
Over the years, I've heard a good number of your (always) very fine compositions. This one seems to be moving in a significantly different direction from most of your work...and in a very good way: the percussion that begins the track and continues with urgency is stellar in the mix, and all those awesome (as in awe inspiring) harmonics that come in above the percussion give this an epic feel, a force that cannot be ignored. You always mix your work with great attention of detail, and this track is no exception. It is simply a joy to hear this kind of music here or anywhere, music with a purpose that is tended with care.
