Description
+++THIS IS AN INTERMEDIATE MIX, NOT THE FINISHED PRODUCT+++
(Hence, the restricted rights; The final will be open)

One of my guitar camp buddies is a big Martin guy. After last year's camp (his first), he ordered a $$$$$ (five figures) "quadruple M45" custom Martin. It came in a coupe of months ago. We got together to jam, and he brought it. He gave it to me to try, and that chord progression was just sitting there in the guitar waiting for me. It just came out... I recorded it, took it home, and turned it into this. I didn't get to use the M45 in the real recording, it was just that I recorded the sketch on my phone... :)

The picture is Paul and his magical Martin M45...

I'm the drums, bass, keyboard, rhythm guitars, and the melody guitar. The viola (Yes, VIOLA!!! :) ) solos are Chris Barbosa, and the guitar solo in the middle is Pete Huttlinger.

Martin's Joy
Lovely mellow, fluid music, Phil. Martin has got himself a fine looking guitar that you have captured wonderfully in the recording. Great to hear some viola, too. The whole composition blends so nicely. All real instruments makes a difference. Would love to see/hear this live. Thanks, Peter.

Thanks Peter!
I didn't get to use his guitar in the actual recording, I just was playing it into my phone so I could remember the progression... :)

Martins Joy
Enjoyed this piece very much. I like how the cello comes in at the 2:40 mark, gives the song a new feel, whilst still holding the integrity of your work.

Unexpected viola entrance!
Love this. Reminds me of stuff Jon Anderson would have done if he would be in a different band than Yes. It has his sense of bright skies and peace and joy. Thanks for sharing this. Extremely good way to start the day!

But then the oversized fiddle came in and it got even better!!

Thanks Tobin!!!
"Oversize fiddle", ha! Love it! He enchanted me because I'm not usually a fiddle fan, but the darker, richer, more mellow tone of the viola coupled with his sensitive playing really hooked me.

Thanks!!
I didn't get to use the M45 on the main recording, only as inspiration. I did, use my high-strung DXME. The main guitar is my Luna Vicki Genfan Signature...

Aw...
What a wonderful-sounding track. Great solos, great bass throughout, very clear guitar work throughout. A really nice, mellow, quasi-jazz tune that is just absolutely pleasant on the ears from the very first notes. I really like the "refrain" with those thirds on the guitar. Yes. Viola! Totally unexpected, but so sweet in this lovely song. Suggestion: bring it up in volume just a tad. It is so pretty that you don't want to lose any of it. ... I enjoyed this piece an awful lot. ... Oh, production is super, too.

Thank you Paul!!
I will nudge it up, as I've been living with the mix, that was my inclination. It feels a little bottom heavy overall too.

Excellent sounding track here, Phil. the 45 sounds sweet and brings forth lots of character. Melody is nicely conceived and the bridge brings a nice relationship with the verse melody. Viola? Really? So smooth dude, very nice bass playing as expected; always the perfect note choices and your dynamics are exceptional. Loved it!

The 45 is only a picture... it's my Luna and my DXME high string on the recording...

I know, right?? Viola!!! He's soooooo good. I'm gonna use him on everything I can...

And thank about my bassanatoring, that's nice praise from a player of your stature!

I would be afraid to touch a five figure guitar. And I'm pretty sure I'd just make it sound like a three figure one. Beautiful piece. The drums, guitars, and bass establish a groove that flows effortlessly. Great changes and melodies. The viola is the star! Pro mix.

Yeah I was afraid of it too!
But, hey, a song fell out of the soundhole for me, so I can't complain. Would have been nice to use the guitar in the recording!

Martin's Joy
Beautiful playing and very catchy Phil! Guitar camp? I'm jealous and that's before I even looked up a M45. really sweet mix and every instrument has it's place and fit's nicely in the whole. No stepping on anyone's toes and just allows you to enjoy the arrangement. The solos are all very considered, compared to some people who just throw notes at the bars till the next verse comes in. Superb stuff.
