Lyrics
At the Self-Help Laundromat
I'm going to clean up my act
I'm going to wash out the stains
Rinse-cycle my brain
I'm going to sparkle and shine
Spin-cycle my mind

In and out
Some days it feels like I'm trapped inside a washing machine. Other days I'm trying to get in.

What?

Amusing lyrics and engaging playing reminiscent of The Beatles around the Sgt Pepper period. Good one!

Lyrics
John's soundtrack was short .. so the lyrics had to be abbreviated to make room for both words and melodic development. Opening with a one-liner just seemed the right approach : )

The lyrics, of course, were suggested by the title John gave to his original soundtrack. Thanks for listening and commenting.

well well
Your playing is getting tighter and tighter. and as usual your subject matter, always clever and topical. Thanks waren, you brightened my somewhat regretful day.

Tight fit
Well, this one had to be pretty tight because there wasn't any room for slacking : )

I'm on my third listening, and like something new each time. Your guitar(s) have character and personality- I hear Buffalo Springfield influence in them; great lyrics that sit just right and "have purpose" in the short piece. To this listener, it could be Neil Young doing the vocals.

Layers
Thanks for the comments .. and the multiple listenings!

To build interest I've been attempting to layer my guitar leads with subtle variations. Sometimes it irritates .. and sometimes it tickles : )

Like it
This sounds a bit like Neil young in a way. And that is a good. i like the Buddha avatar. I had that same Buddha for years back in Seattle, a little white version. The face was strangle different however. Nice little trippy tune.

Avatar
I have used that avatar since joining MacJams. I keep thinking I should replace it .. but .. well .. you know .. I still like it as it is : )

Liking the lyrics...
Cool idea, fun music, a little short. Can you develop those lyrics some? I think you have something important to say about rejuvenation.

If the song fits, play it
Could the lyrics be developed? Sure. But the whole idea of the Solo-Me Challenge was to fit something to someone else's music .. so that is why it is as long as it is : )

Nice
reminds of Warren Zevvon for some reason. The other week my mother in law did my laundry at the laundromat and lost half my clothes. I think she would appreciate the lyrics. Nice job.

Don't know how i missed this one...sort of got in the tail end of the challenge.

Cool vibe going on here...maybe a Zappa/Neil Young love child?....lots of fun.

It seems like most of my songs are love childs.

Or would that be love children?

Thanks for the comment.

Guitar
Love the song, both old and new.

It sounds like there is some red hot guitar way in the back. Was that the original? In that case maybe you can straighten the balance a little between it and your additions.

Old dog new tricks
I'm just an old guy trying to do new things : )

That includes the occasional collaboration here at MacJams.

Various elements of John's original soundtrack bubble up to the surface now and then .. kind of like watching the laundry tumble around in the dryer window and catching a glimpse of a sock or patterned shorts.

Didn't you mean to say Neil Young sounds like me?
