Already Gone (with alackbass)

Description
When Andrew Lack gives a set of chords and some great lead breaks,(http://www.macjams.com/song/78425) it's a chance not to be missed. It's taken a while, but I finally wrote some lyrics, added a vocal and a couple of acoustic guitar tracks (left in standard D tuning, right in open G with a capo on the 7th fret).

Thanks, Andrew!

Lyrics
Already Gone

(based on Open Jam by alackbass)

Oh darling when you’re laughing, does the sun shine out of you?
Oh darling when you’re crying, does the world feel blue?
You act as if you think so,
But really it ain’t true.

When you said that you were going, did you think that I would care
When you said that you were going, Baby did you think I’d care
I know you’d like to think that
It is more than I can bear

In my mind I’m travelling, I have moved along
My mind it has been travelling, and now it’s moved along
So when you start to say goodbye
Already I’ll be gone

Great lyrics and I love what the acoustic brought to it. Thanks for resurrecting me from the musically silent.

Resurrection :)
Good to hear Andrew again - and you too of course Philip. I've always considered this kind of slow blues a serious challenge to pull off, but you seem to have managed just fine. Some very tasty bits in the solo Andrew. Hope it's not too cold down south.
Cheers,
Neil

Your acoustic additions to Andrew's fine track work really well, Philip. The vocal addition sounds great, too. Laid back, world-weary - blue, in fact. The lyrics work well. I especially like the laughing/crying dichotomy in the "repeated" lines in the first verse. Perhaps you could have extended this to going/coming, or something in the second and subsequent verses? Just a thought. Talk soon. Peter.

Glad you liked the acoustics! I didn't want to get in the way of Andrew's electric work, but couldn't resist adding some guitars. Good idea on the lyrics - pity I didn't think of that 😟 See you soon!

Nice Philip ... sweet acoustic additions, the little nuances like the harmonics on the right compliments Andrews tasty leads. You don't think yourself as a bluesman but your close warm and a tinge of gravel in your vocals fit this perfectly.
Well done!

Really nice guys. Vocals are spot on and the guitars/bass are exceptional. It sounds like the two of you play together all the time. I'm digging where everything sits in the mix.

really like
the track in its parts. your voice has a really nice, ragged vibrato, but i think the guitar would sound even nicer if the vocals were just a tiny bit lower in the mix -- unless you're going for that guy clark talking blues type of vibe, in which case, carry on

Vocal level
You make an interesting point. Certainly, Andrew's guitar needs to be on top and I wouldn't want the vocal to diminish that. I'll try your suggestion and see how it comes out. Thanks for listening and for the comment - much appreciated!
