Lady Loves To Dance (with Norm Grimmett)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This starts with the chord sequence from Lady is a Tramp. I improvised a melody, then asked Norm Grimmett (a friend from school teaching days) to sit in. He's on the right channel.

I'm playing an Ibanez artist, Norm plays a Gibson ES 175. He added the bass track. One of the rhythm tracks I play on my Maton FG 100 acoustic; the other is played by Norm on his Gibson.

First recorded in Garageband, then taken into Logic and the drum track added.

Just having fun...

Well now, that's unusual.
And impressive. Lots of people can make guitars scream and shout, not so many can make them sigh and cry. Subtle stuff, nicely recorded.

Thanks
Yes, there are others that are better at scream and shout guitars (and I'm a bit envious of them), but we were happy with the way this turned out. Thanks for listening and for taking the time to comment - much appreciated!

... and it sounds like it! Must have been some fun in the staffroom in the old days Philip! Interesting to hear the different tones on the various guitars.
Cheers from "up north",

Not so much in the staffroom, but we did have a staff band that performed in the annual student talent quest! Thanks for having a listen, Neil - much appreciated!

The Usual Excellence
Melodic, musical, creative flowing sound. Music really is one isn't it? I hear all of your influences on this one. Jamming on a Jazz standard and yet I hear the folk and a little bit of country also. Maybe we should do away with the genre's and call it good music or bad music. Yours definitely falls in the good category.

That progression is a nice one to dance over. And you boys had the smooth footsteps to treat it right. Hey, Norm, great to hear you again! Hope things are going well. Nice tones and a languid feel. Talk soon, Philip. Regards, Peter.

Oh, this is...
DELIGHTFUL. You guys jam like you've been playing together for years and years. There is such a comfortable feeling about all of this. Working against a defined chord structure keeps the whole thing tight and allows for the wonderful improv melodic lines that each of you take off and on. The overall sound is just so mellow, too. I agree with Fire Angel regarding guitars sometimes screaming. Yours just sing with beautiful melodies. A treat to my ears. You guys are just loaded with talent.

Nice
jazz guitar riffs. Like the tone on your Ibanez artist. I like the fluid melodic phrasing in you lead lines. Just a nice piece of music here. Great job guys.

Glad you liked it, Bill. I tried a couple of guitars for this (including a Strat...) but thought the Ibanez sounded sweetest against Norm's ES 175, so went with that. Thanks for stopping by!
