Description
-Something, 'Bout Nothin'

It was a cool spring day in LA, when I first met Joe Smith
It soon became a perfect musical match
He started playing this cool 2 chord groove, which i added some breaks and bridges.
We got together occasionally for 3 years and recorded a few more songs, but this is my favorite.
I forgot about it, but somewhere in 2007 i recovered the song.
As I continued making changes, I came to the point that I needed help. I contacted Tony and asked him to add guitars. He fulfilled what was missing, and help fine tune the song.
Something, 'Bout Nothin' has different meanings, but for us in LA, it is similar to "no worries man!"
I hope you enjoy.

Nice textures Steve. The filtered guitar is a great addition to the proceedings. The triplet feel is relaxed and smooth.
Thanks for posting your work with us here. The bar is higher now.

cool
upbeat "makes you smile" sound flowing from the speakers. Kinda got a touch of romanticism in a young, fresh kinda way. Yeah, I'd be proud of this one too.

Lots of times...
...I "see" a lot of colors in music that catches my ear, but this time, I not only got that but a nice whiff of very fragrant flowers--at least a few dozen bouquets of 'em! Beautiful work! You and Mr. Smith make for quite an excellent musical marriage and I do hope to hear much more (please!) Thanks so much for this. Michael

Something, bout nothin
Really enjoyed listening to this one Steve. I don't think I've had the pleasure of hearing your stuff before and this was a great introduction. The guitars all go together well and the bass ties things up nicely. There does come a time when you have to stop tweaking the mix and just let the tune out into the great wide open. Well played by all and a well written tune to boot!

"Up" and engaging, Steve. The gang are in stellar form on this fine sounding piece. The keys have an analogue type vibe and the guitars add depth without getting in the way. Thanks Peter.

Glad you noticed the older analogue sounds. I tried to save as much as possible of the original instruments. The bass track couldn't be restored, so an audio to midi program was used (logic 9 pro) to keep that original feel. When Tony's guitar part begins you hear those beautiful octaves crisp and clear.
Thanks Peter!

There's a smooth elegance to this. It's very engaging because of the fine playing by all involved in it. Much enjoyed!

My grandpa taught me a style he called "speak and reply"
an instrument would play a measure the another instrument would reply
similar to jazz musicians solos trying to out do one another. but speak and replay is a joyful exchange between instruments

Thanks

Thoroughly enjoyed!
Spectacular contempo track that is perfectly mixed and balanced. What a pleasant listen... and such pro performances by all. This is a really fine track that, while about nothin', seems also to be about something — maybe a bright, sunny day that's filled with positivity. That's what I take from it. Thanks for posting.
