Description
I love this song.
- 1989. Evening, driving the 5 hour trip from Key Marathon back to West Palm Beach, FL after two weeks of tile setting at someone's two story dream house on the Gulf side. Job finished and wanting to get home I hit the road, looking forward to seeing my wife and three daughters. Driving as the sun is setting, Van Morrison's song comes on the radio. It had just been released and I hadn't heard it yet. Wow... what a song. Exactly what I was feeling. We never had an "our song." This one became our song...

Strings, bass, flute, french horn via Yamaha psr 293 keyboard.
Guitar: Alesis strat
Vocal: me
Composer: Van 'the Man' Morrison

Memories
Sweet. How did you get Van to give you permission to cover this song?

It's funny how songs link in our memories to events and people. Good songs for good memories.

It is an nice one to play on guitar, nice progressions. Knowing you liked this versions and that the original is a favorite of yours makes for a welcomed compliment. Thanks Bob...

Hi Philip
I can't remember what my thinking was when I laid down the original guitar track. I recorded the song for my wife on our 33rd anniversary and was just trying to complete a decent rendition that would somewhat stand up with Van's original. When we got marred way back when we didn't have an "our song" (as I mention above) so I didn't want to flub it. Glad you enjoy my take. Cheers...

Breezy chestnuts...
Thanks Kevin for such a nice comment. Funny, I liked my rendition but was apprehensive about how it would be received since Van puts such a unique stamp on his songs (kinda like the Beatles). So it's been nice to see the response. Hope you're recovery is going well. Best to you...
