Description
I don't care if they're watching me. I'm not doing anything wrong.

Another goes-over oldie from the archive. Strip searching and cleaning the original.

When the winsome bubble shivers
When the bough breaks
Will be the moment
But not here or now
Sleep and, asleep, forget
The watchers on the wall
Awake all night who know
The pity of it all

--- Louis MacNeice

Dude ... you rock! That guitar tone is too die for ... Loved it. Almost a Steve Hackett sound ... crunchy chords sit well in the mix with the bass ...would like to hear the drums out front a little more but that's just me.They come up some towards the end ... start to feel the kick more.
Bass is killer.

Hounds
Thanks for the comments. I haven't found the right bass sound yet. It's been a real challenge ever since I moved to LP X. As for the drums, you might be right. A real balancing act. I tried to automate the drum volume throughout. Probably didn't quite get it right. I appreciate the critical feedback. There could be more of that at MJs.

Simply brilliant. I admire how you keep the groove simple and straightforward, the chromatic changes, the odd time sigs. It would take me 10 years to come up with something remotely close to this. You should be proud of this one.

Ten years
Hahaha. I doubt that very much, but it's nice of you to say. It's not my favorite, but I'm OK with the end result. Just too much fun to be had with all these fancy computer programs. Still not happy with the bass tone. The search continues.

Hi, Steve
Even spies need some rock music now and then. They know that we know they're out there. They also know that we don't know who or when or where, and especially not how. The why … hmmm. Anyway, it's just a little ditty. As mentioned above, I think the bass sound leaves much to be desired. Still working on that. I might try to recruit your talents for future work. Thanks much.

Nice
ramble through a darker emotional range. No vague 'feelings' here: everything is crystal clear. The guitar at 3:17 has such an incredibly, brilliantly nasty sound I almost fell out of my chair! I smell some Thrak in there, but maybe that's just because I've been listening to it a lot lately.
Heady track!

Thrak
I have a copy of that but haven't listened to it for a while. I like the reference. KC is one of my favorite bands. Makes me want to get back to "writing" instead of re-vamping. I'm glad you came by, and thanks for the nice feedback.

Excellent piece, Les, full of cool changes and interesting twists and turns along the way. I appreciate your ability to tell a story with your music, and your style is all you. Enjoyed this - a lot - nice work!

Thanks for coming to listen to one of my revamp efforts. It's been a learning experience. A long way to go, it seems. Your "story" comment is gratifying. Much appreciated.

great feel - and the sudden turns are really effective. Guitar sounds awesome and you've got some pretty tight drum programming going on there as well. Super.

Hi, bud
I do tend to spend most of my time mucking with the drum track. Sometimes I go overboard. This remix was in part an attempt to clean the drum track, trying to imagine what a real (pretty good) drummer might do. I never get there, but it's still a fun challenge. Thanks for the nice comments.

Nice bottom end
This is very good, and quite absorbing. Nice tone on the guitar and some really good rhythm section work happening. Drums could be more up front in this style, but with such good guitar stuff going on, I imagine most would disagree. Lots of rhythmic goodness here.
Great post!

Drums
Both you and groovehounds made this observation, so there's likely something to it. I will keep this in mind for future work. Balancing has always been a sore point for me. I really appreciate the constructive feedback, and would vote for seeing more of it at MJs. Thanks.

Hi, Cees
You like the bass? Well, that's interesting. I had the most trouble with the bass track. I'm still looking for the sound I want. But I'm glad you found it to be acceptable. Thanks for coming by. Much appreciated.

Hey, good to hear from you. We miss your special brand of take-no-prisoners rock. It would be great for all of us to have you posting again. Thanks for the compliments. But I seriously doubt that you have any windows left to blow out with the kind of music you play hahaha.

ALL the guitar tones are to die for in this dastardly demo. Love the syncopation in the middle around 3:00. Really cool counterpoint to all the metal insanity. Complex in a prog way without getting bogged down in too- technical stuff - keeps it up front and driving. Has a cloak and dagger mystery cinematic flair.

Dastardly demo
Hahaha. Very good. Thanks, RR. It's less technical than usual, I guess. The mood often strikes to gratuitously over-complexify. Just not this time. Glad you liked it.

Running late. Sorry. Impressive work. It flows well through a number of iterations. Fine guitar work. When I turn things up LOUD the drums have impressive slam but down at more normal listening levels they seem to recede into the mix a bit. Don't know how to fix that.. Quality post. Thanks, Peter.

Always enjoy your stuff...matter of fact I usually seek it out.Have to admit I haven't been around for a while,so this sounds especially tasty.Your choice of scales "modes" build so much drama....Got to agree with Peter on the drums, sounds good LOUD but fall back into the mix a bit when turned down.By most peoples standards that wouldn't even be an issue but I know you want the best....Much enjoyed!
