Lyrics
An Itch You Can’t Scratch

you've been blue and moody
searching for a lost chord
all of your gadgets and gizmos
can’t keep you from being bored
there's a longing you can't satiate
no matter how many holes you patch
there's a desire you can't alleviate
there’s an itch you can't scratch

the politicians are making you unhappy
no matter how many times you vote
no you just can't get satisfaction
no matter how many times you rock the boat
your fantasies are leaving you empty
no matter how many videos you watch
you seem to be settling into entropy
from an itch you can't scratch

how long must you wait
to embrace your fate
to crack the conundrum
to transcend the enigma

no matter how many numbers you pick
it's a sequence you can't match
it's a demand you can't negotiate
no matter how many schemes you hatch
your brain is betraying your body
always dreaming the unimaginable
always asking to touch the intangible
but it's an itch you can't scratch
it's an itch you can't scratch
it's an itch you can't scratch
it's an itch you can't scratch

Loved it!
Lyrics are brilliant. There are not enough songs with entropy and satiate (not to mention unimaginable and intangible)

A classic Warren Smith slightly deranged delivery and accompaniment :-)

Classy stuff my friend.

Cheers

Words
I figure what's the use of having a vocabulary if you don't put it to use : )

Way With Words
You always have a way with words, but these are very clever lyrics indeed. I love that scratchy electric sound in the song's intro and the guitar solos are terrific. Weirdly, I think this would also make a great Krautrock song.

Scratching
I keep trying to find my way with the words. Needless to say, a lot of words got scratched out during the process of writing this song : )

Itching to do
I find laughing on the guitar easier than crying. Hmm .. maybe I should do a song called "Laugh Me A River"?

Up and to the left, ahhh!
Love these crazy lyrics, and the guitar is perfectly zany! Loved every bit of it!

An Itch You Can't Scratch
I was scratching just listening to this! Loquacious lyrics meet jittery jingle. A fine combo. Cold showers help... :-) Take care, Peter.

An Itch You Can't Scratch
Yo Brooklyn!
Totally wacky lyrics and maniacal beats and guitars. Totally sounds like An Itch You Can't Scratch! Perfectly titled. Love the lyric "to crack the conundrum to transcend the enigma". Genius. Tonally it needs a little bottom end, sounding a little thin. But that's a little nit for a cool song.

Hello Brooklyn
One of these days I'm going to buy a bass guitar to attack that bottom end. (Of course, I've been saying that for twenty years now, but, hey, it could happen.)

No better way
to scratch an itch by grabbing the guitar. I find it a little hard to hang on too when I run it down my back and find it easier if I use both hands. Digging the layered guitars and nice delivery on the message. Enjoyable listen, another great post.

Wow...
What a vocabulary! Edgy song and performance with a message. Got me all itchy just listening. I think you made your point. You really get some interesting sounds out of your instruments by taking an imaginative view of just how you mix and edit. So nice to hear something that is so unique in its general sound.

Words & sound
I grew up in a family of wordsmiths .. so working with words has always been a part of my creative life. There are a few lines in this song that could be better refined. In fact, after I recorded it, I went in and changed a couple of words when something preferable emerged. The general objective was to create a soundtrack that integrated the lyrical concept of "itchiness." There, too, I went back in to add small touches to enhance the sound. Sometimes these kinds of compositions are never finished .. but at some point you just have to declare it "done" for the time being : )
