I Could (with Daugrin)

Description
I started with a simple country song that I thought was, well, a bit clippety clop boring. It needed to be spiced up. Time to look around the MacJams community to see who could do that. The search took me to Daugrin. When listening to his music, I must admit I haven't always known what was happening, but I did know two things: he knew what he was doing and he was an exceptional guitar player. So I asked for his help, and he graciously gave it. After entering the Daug House the song came out different and I needed a cup of tea and a lie down to rest my spinning head!

So he's the result - I love it and I ask you to imagine sitting in a bar somewhere where the band is having a lot of fun and playing up a storm!

Thanks to Daugrin who played all the instruments (except for one jazzy riff that I had to put in!) and put it together.

Enjoy!

Lyrics
I Could

I could give up drinking, the red wine of Bordeaux
I could give up eating cordon bleu
I could give up travelling to cities round the world
But I could never give up loving you

I could give up swimming in the surf at Rainbow Bay
I could give up sunny afternoons
I could give up going out with the boys on Friday night
But I could never give up loving you

I am always hoping that the sun will shine all day
I want to take a spaceship to the moon
If I had the chance I would become a billionaire
But I would give them up for loving you

I could give up playing on my jazzy red guitar
Or firework displays when the year is new
I could give up barbecues with friends all gathered around
But I could never give up loving you

Instrumental

I would love to write a song like only Dylan can
I want to spend the night at Uluru
I’d love to drive a Rolls Royce when I’m heading into town
But I would give these up for loving you

But there’s no need for all those dreams to go out of my life
I won’t be giving anything away
I know how much you love me and I know that it is true
That I can never give up loving you.

I know how much you love me and I know that it is true
That I will never give up loving you.

P and D...
Kudos to the camaraderie of MacJams. A great collab from two great musicians. Daug, you burn up the frets on the guitar. Philip - a classic country song....

by the way,
Philip, nice to hear a country tune here at MJ. I did one a while back with Ed - sloparts. There's just something about the country vibe...

Catchy, upbeat country outing, Philip. I like your vocal work, especially the harmonies in the chorus. Sure sounds like Daug's boys in the band are having a fine old time. When too many guitars is barely enough... :-) MJ collabs rock. Thanks, guys. regards, Peter.

Yee bloody haw. Pass me one of them beers. BIG sound here, no clippety clop at all (not that there's anything wrong with that). Apropos lyrics (good job there). I swear, your vocals sound like post-Cream Eric Clapton on this one. Smart move bringing in Daug. Fine collaboration, gents.

Cow pies Stan? Are they like cow pats? I'm guessing you meant cowboys and that damned error correction kicked in? Anyway, thanks for listening and for the comments - as always, your support is much appreciated!

Thanks for the invite Phil. Enjoyed playing on the track.
Btw, generous indeed Philip, thanks for the kudos. Yer rhythm guitars and the original bass line you created in the verse section went a long way to directing how the track evolved. I could hear the track, I know this direction as the "whiskey trip", being conversational in this genre things just fell into place.
Great song. Ready anytime ya need some help partner :)

Hey Dick
We were just trying to have some fun. Philip is a good sport and let me do what I do... play the tune. Johnny Cash on acid? Are you thinking of Pat? That guy Andy calls "Orbit"? lol.
