Description
As usual, I don't know what genre this is. I'll fix it later if a better suggestion arises. If you're familiar with Vladimir Nabokov, you'll notice that I'm stealing the title of one of his books, without the obligatory comma (I try to avoid punctuation in song titles. Don't you?).

An earlier version of this was posted for about a day some time ago. The idea was for me to convey a range of feelings that I had associated with a particular room in a place I once lived for many years. The title was "The Memory Room." It felt rushed, so I took it down. I've only recently been able to revisit it, so I swapped a few voices, and polished it up as much as I'm able. It was quite a bear to mix, and some compromises were made to the original dynamical intent, but I'm OK with it as is. Still, suggestions for improvement are always welcomed. Thanks for listening,

Nice layer of synths. The "lead" synth patch that comes in around 1/4 way in sounds very good. May I ask which synth you used for that one? It feels like your affection (and nostalgia) for your old room is quite strong. Overall, a great listen. Cheers.

Hi, Mystrag
Thanks for coming by for a listen. Lots of affection, but some awfulness, which I mostly left out to keep this from running to 20 minutes. The lead synth is the UH Sync Lead 01, which is a preset on the Zebralette, the little brother of the mighty Zebra 2.

Hi, MO
Nice of you to say. It's a mix of routine boredom (perhaps) and somewhat more pointed statements (perhaps). That's what I was going for, but the "capture" is always a challenge for me. Thanks very much for the comment.

Ambient progressive
I think it's generally a good thing when you have to struggle with what category to put a piece of music in .. because it means the music came first .. that you are just letting it flow out of you .. not predetermined to be a certain something.

And who wants to be put in a categorical box anyway?

Music tied to the memory of a specific place .. that's a good compositional subject. I love all of the different zones this evocative piece takes me to. Nicely done!

Hi, Warren
Yes, I hear what you're saying. The categorical box is just a guide for potential listeners, whose time is valuable. There's always too much music to listen to (which is better than the alternative, of course). A few times in the past, I have added a drum track to what could otherwise be a more-or-less ambient piece, and it always confuses me. But as you say, this wasn't preconceived to fit into a box. Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Warren.

Late
to the party. Progient? Prambient? Ambressive? Who cares about genres.

I notice you've used the excellent Zebralette. Cracking little synth, I think. Best free one out there, in my opinion.

I would perhaps comment on the many various sections of this piece, but the timer is not there. So I'll just say great music all round sir. They're all good. Super synthonic stuff. Big thumbs up and downloaded.

Hi, Dave
Not much of a party it would seem. But no matter. It's always an honor to have you stop by. Thank you, sir.

Say hey
Thanks very much for the comment. Yes, this one could have gone on forever, but I set a goal for myself to shave it to under 10 minutes,

I thoroughly
enjoyed the upbeat_ness of the journey. It was at first, contemplative but then everything got into the cab and the road trip started. No one asked, "are we there, yet?" because the "here' was too good not to focus on. Yeah, well...a terrific piece for soaring to outer space from within. Thanks.

Hi, Char
It's the result of how I used to "compose," just tacking section upon section. Then I give up and let them sit there, then I revisit them and pretend that it's a coherent piece. Well, whatever. I still like it. The smart thing to do would be to split it into four or five different Logic files, and use each section as a starting point for individual pieces. But I'm not that smart. Anyway, thanks very much for listening and commenting. Good to see around MJs. I'm hoping that you're brewing up some new music for us.

EXquisite
Patient ambient development, simple sounds that flow into a prog like mid-section which keeps the easy feel but to a beat. Very nice contrasts between sections. And you've made it long enough to fully develop your ideas. (Although if it did run to 20 minutes with this level of quality I wouldn't complain.)

As Paul said - a gem.

Hi, Doug
It was a long time coming, this one. I had it around for so long that I started to lose perspective, so I'm not sure it's much good. But I was certainly happy that I finally was able to say "OK, enough" and post it. It could have gone on forever, but maybe I should save other ideas for separate efforts. Thanks for the nice words.

Doug found the right word to specify your classy work --- exquisite ---.
Thanks for being here and for throwing from time to time a radiant gem in our obscured memory.
I specially like the middle part. :)

Hi, Harald
I'm glad you listened to it. It has some simple parts, but also some that were tricky for me. Finding the right voices was a real challenge. I'm not convinced that I fully succeeded. Thanks very much for your comments and support.
