Description
This is the third installment of the 45 minute jam. This is from a disc by Dave Stephenson (guitar) and Gary Strong (drums). These were jams that I had been involved in from back in our college days. They got together one night a couple of years ago and recorded this. Dave added keyboard acoustic and bass later. He named it L'Spirit de Gary. This segment is the remaining 9 minutes or so. Big Bear is the first segment of about 4 minutes Big Bear 2 is here about another 7 minutes then this is the remaining 9, I guess. Miss you Gary, man. Blessings to you Dave!

L'Spirit de Gary
Everyone's having fun here. Has a good balance of tightness and looseness to remain entertaining throughout, with everyone getting a chance to strut their stuff. Entertaining drums around the 3:30 mark. Good to hear the sax stretch out a little around the 7:10 mark. I would have liked the guitar to fly a little higher at times? It would have been good to be there for this!

wish this could have been live- at least my part of it... this was their work. Gary is no longer with us and many years have passed since we were playing this music. But am thankful that you are hearing it today.

Nice jam
it has a little Dead Traffic feel to it. I like how you guys are not afraid to break it down and then take your time building it back up. That takes good ears as much as playing.

this is the third installment where this breaking down is more apparent and a reiteration of ideas from past jams and phrases. Fewer solos lend it self to a more rhythmic presence on this one. the jam was electric and drums, Dave added bass and acoustic guitar and then a year later or so, I added the sax. But the jam feel is still alive. love ya bro.

College days
So this is old stuff? Someone did a good job getting the mix to sound bright and modern. Though I think the acoustic guitar is a bit overly bright.

There's some solid music making here! Great performances all around.

My explanation is vague... the recording was likely recorded digitally when a couple of 'college days friends' got together about 4 years ago. It was handed to me on a CD which I loaded into Garage. I duplicated the track and used the individual tracks to tweak highs on one region and lows on the other. Then I added sax.

Quality musicianship and a fine understanding between all concern is on display here, Andy. A fine tribute to your friend. I, too, get a Traffic style vibe. Enjoyed the journey. Thanks, Peter.
