Description
A song about leaving.
Again its something I wrote some years ago.

Phil left the country to play guitar in France for a while so I tried my hand at recording this on my own on Mixcraft7

Lyrics
BLOOD OF THE LAMBS W&M FRANCISCUS HENRI
(Albert Music)
Blood of the lambs
Crucified friends
Wounded hands and wounded hearts
That’s how we part

She said
“There’s nothing I want to give away
There’s nothing I want to lose
If I had to chose
Nothing would change”

He put down the phone
Threw his keys to the floor
He walked to the door

Unanswered calls
Notes on the wall
Wounded words and wounded hearts
That’s how we part

She put on her coat
And walked out into the rain
If I had to chose
Nothing would change

He picked up his keys
That were lying on the floor
And he closed the door

Blood of the lambs
Crucified friends
Wounded words and wounded hearts
That’s how we part

Blood of the Lambs
Great song. Warm vocal and varied, rich backing. I feel the cold chill of redundancy on the back of my neck!

Blood of the Lambs
Pretty amazing song, Franc. A style all its own. Bleak lyrics with the sliding dissonance to back them up. Wonderful sense of space in the mix. Philip who? :-) Unique and challenging. And all the better for it. Fine song and a sympathetic performance. Thanks, Peter.

Subtle and disturbing
Is what I was aiming for. It is perhaps going against the stream of optimistic love songs.
I am inspired by Paul Simon who is often known to go there. Thanks for your observations

That's how we part
Elements of Cohen.

As the others have said, bleak.

I like the minimal backing as it keeps the focus on the words and the delivery.

Cheers

Dick

Bleak
I visualised it as a short black and white film.
Still experimenting !

Blood
I like the instrumentation and how it supports the vocals. Overall, the mix/arrangement is moving the piece forward. Nice picking.

The story in the song drew me in...

Brilliant! You should be very proud of this track. Plenty of space so we can hear all of the instruments.

Excellent
Reminds me of a Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush live version of the song Another Day, from 1977, with the setting of a person hesitantly leaving without much being said. But with the occasional dramatic detail highlighted. Very effective lyrics setting the mood of the scene. Very well executed as well of course :-)

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Reminds me of...
...nothing at all. Just a beautiful, sad love song that is performed with exquisite care vocally and instrumentally. The strings are particularly wrenching as they carve out their own little path through this simple, though eloquent narrative. Single guitar is the perfect accompaniment. I really like this number a great deal. I'd rather not compare it to anything else.

Thank you Paul
I laboured away at this for some time trying to create a delicately nuanced arrangement reflecting the somewhat disturbing narrative of the lyrics.

Minimal consequences
Nice writing and singing. I think the minimalism of the music and poetry perfectly reflect the desperate emptiness of this liaison: there's something going on, but it's not going to be enough to salvage or redeem the relationship.
