Description
...where will he go next? ...

When I first joined MJ about 4 years ago, I had a small personal goal: To make 20 postings.
I thought to myself then, if I could post 20 ok songs where all these great musicians come to share their music, then maybe I will have done something right.

Well, I can't say that all of my postings have been ok, but at least this is my 20th one.
I guess that's not much compared to many of you who have 50+ or even 100+ quality songs, but these were all I could manage during those 4 years, which was a lot of fun.
And my postings, most of them done on my scrubby iPad, have gotten a lot of support, probably more than they deserve in many cases. So I want to thank all of my fellow MacJammers for that.

It may sound like I am going away, but I am not. I am just in a bit of a dry spell (for quite some time actually), and can't stay active here as much as I want to. Nevertheless, I will try to support fellow MJers as much as I can, and will come back with better music of mine, hopefully sooner than later. Thank you and cheers.

You have produced some fine music over the journey, Jay. The muse floats around a bit but she always comes back :-) And she didn't desert you on this one. Big country driving music. Kick back, open the windows and play loud! I'd end up with a speeding ticket in no time :-) No. 20 is a keeper. Thanks, Peter.

Thank you for your kind words, Peter. Your support is always appreciated. As for the muse, her visits are few and far between nowadays. Guess I'll just have to wait. :) Thank you and cheers.

A mover here...
Develops, which is a huge milestone to meet. Great job on the guitar, the sequences are thoughtful and well designed, made me wanna play.

Lots of variation .....
........ which I like. Your bass playing is really good, and sets the tone of each part here. Guitars teriffic too, and I'm a sucker for a bit of B3 in a mix. You clearly have a solid collection of musical skills. I'm interested in what you're using here - all live instruments, or are there loops involved?
This is a really classy post - enjoyed it a lot.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Thank you
Thank you for your kind comment Neil. Like most of my postings, almost all guitar parts were done on iPad, literally. That means I played the virtual guitar with my fingers on touchscreen, with vibrato, bending and other articulations etc. What I like about my recent postings, is that many guitar parts are actually 'live recordings' done in real time, some final parts being the first take of the improvisation. Four more years from now, I might come back with a real 6-string (I have this increasing urge to buy my first electric guitar), but until then, I will have to do with this (iPad) air guitar. :-) Thank you and cheers.

Roaming
Nice track. Takes a while to build up, but somewhere at the 3rd minute it is decidedly gloriously epic.

Epicness
Well, that is a very high praise from you, thanks. Those rock organ and guitar sounds always seem to find some epicness when done properly. Thank you again for your comment and the listen. Cheers.

I was
liking how it started out kinda Moondance-y...then it got better. The bass was done the same as the guitars? What'd you use for drums?

moondance
Bass was done in a similar manner as guitar, but some parts were done using 'autoplay' feature of iPad garageband, which is like an arpeggiator of some kind. Drums are mainly iPad garageband 'smart drum' instrument. Also, some loops were used for certain drum fills. Thanks for the comment and the listen.

I do get restless once I get an idea and start writing a song... all the way up until I upload it at macjams and read other MJer's comments. :-) Thank you for your comment and checking this one out. Appreciate it. Cheers.

Did a brief stint in a hobby band back in the 90s, and still do some occassional jam sessions with my old buddies. But I don't consider myself a musician or an artist. 'Hobbyist' might be the best word to describe me in macjams. Still, I try to m... [see more]
