Description
I was halfway happy with this poolside improvisation at Deep Eddy pool in Austin, but on listening to it at home I found that the local grackle population was somewhat too vociferously present.

Bird song
The grackle .. a bird that people love to hate!

Personally, I don't find the birds annoying or distracting here. Your personal song nestles right into the ambient setting .. another bird among birds.

Is there
a guitar in the background or is just my ears gone off track? I think the ambience of the birds and you work quite well .... If there is a guitar was it someone being inspired or planned? Nonetheless.... Like the track wish I was there.

Background
The main backing is a piano that is processed in various ways. One of the effects busses has the Logic Space Designer reverb, where I used the built-in filter. That's probably the source of your perceived guitar.

Is that bird Union?
It sounds like a joyous outdoor tune to me - just set in nature. A little like Dan Gibson recordings. Your improv has an interesting multi-genre quality that is rather cool to hear in that it is fresh and not following something predetermined by style.

Nice one Vic.

A sweet tune.
Has a kind of fold song quality to it that I like.
A good listen.

Way out comparison? I recognized several phrases as bits from Ella. Maybe not a great comparison but it sounds like you were lost into the experience... that is important!

Ella
Now there's an unexpected comparison. Look at it this way: I was playing a pentatonic instrument, so I'm sure it sounded unintentionally bluesy in places.

And yeah, I had some flow going in this improv.

Music for an annoying bird
I especially like the sections where it's just the flute and the birds - both have a very natural sound that fit well together. Much enjoyed!

The Pied Piper of Deep Eddy Pool strikes again. Obviously the birds liked it. I do, too. Some nice runs and trills. Thanks.

In tune...
I think I like this number best when the chordal accompaniment is absent. To me, it seems to fit just so perfectly as an "a cappella" recorder piece, enhanced by only the natural sounds around the player. I enjoyed hearing this improvisation very much. ... The great trill and little flip at the end — perfect.
