THE PECOS
Ah, Charles. Had me riding tall in the saddle and saying 'marm' to all the women-folk :-) I can picture a wagon train heading west filled with families hoping for a better future. Thanks.

It's good to have manners around the women folk.
Glad I could help.
Thanks Peter.

More Big Sky Music
I don't know quite how you capture this heart swelling, breathe-in-the outdoors kind of feel but you really nail it. Just like your photo - sunshine, puffy clouds, open landscape and maybe not another human in sight.

Copland, yes, but there is a thread woven through here from a series of other Western score composers as well but the results are none of the above. It's your style, unmistakably.

Once I visited the south west I loved it. Maybe on my next trip I'll bring your music on a playlist.

I am found of Aaron
and of course there's a whole cannon of great western composers who did some terrific stuff. Newman, Goldsmith, Bernstein, Moross just to name a few. I'd have loved to have been a part of that Wild Bunch.
Thanks Doug,
Cheers,
Charlie

The Pecos
Open door to ride a new landscape. Your music is the unmistakable pass to it. Bravo !

Catchy
Very catchy melody. I know this because right after listening to it I got up and walked to the back of my apartment to look for something .. and I kept humming it over and over again. And when I got back to where I left off .. I simply picked up a guitar and started dinging around with the melody and variations.

Also .. it's sounds very Western .. as big as the Texas sky.

If
my music can live even a short while in fellow musician’s head, that is cool.
Thanks Warren.

Pecos
very majestic, like how it climbs and climbs, seems as if it all rests upon the almost waltzing bass rhythm, such an elating feeling it leaves you with greatness!

I agree
the music is uplifting - the video I made for it plays against that.
I think the contrast is fascinating but not everyone will agree.
Thanks ego,
Charlie

The Pecos
Very grand, Charlie, and with your usual mastery of a range of different instruments to create such a rich sound. Much enjoyed!

Big Sky Music
Indeed... I agree with Doug. There's a certain clarity and breadth in this number. The landscape you paint is kind of "raw" in a most-authentic way —— without any tricks or the need for anything more than the honesty of your repeated strings and chord structure. (I would, of course, encourage you to move away from the 4-chord pattern at some point if only to "elevate" the piece and give it even more space than it already has. A key change would do it...about 2/3 of the way in.) I love the simplicity of this composition, though. It needs no further adornment.
