Lyrics
Mary has an Uzi [Buckley & Smith]

Mary has an Uzi
it's small and soft and pink
now that she can shoot
she doesn't need to think

Mary has an Uzi
and a license to kill
there is no inner darkness
that a muzzle flash can't fill

Mary has an Uzi
although it makes her cry
when she pulls the trigger
something has to die

Mary has an Uzi
her sex-capades are done
when she wants to reach a climax
she reaches for her gun

Mary has an Uzi
with a hundred round clip
she likes the feel of full auto
when she fires from her hip

Hard rock indeed!
As always, a cracking set of lyrics and wonderful concept.

Entertainment with an edge.

I suppose Suzy has an Uzi was too obvious... ;-)

Cheers

Yes, too obvious .. and perhaps a little too cute? No doubt they are sisters.

Mary Has an Uzi
Characteristic vocal and cascading lead lines. The lyrics get you thinking. Interesting graphic, too. Entertaining, Warren.

Up and down
Ha-ha, Philip .. once you start cascading .. it's difficult to stop. Ditto for double-tracking the vocals.

Circus performance
The goal of the circus break was to create an atmosphere that contrasted with the hard-hitting guitar staccatos of the verses .. hopefully underscoring the absurdity of marketing pink-colored killing machines to young girls. It got torn apart and put back together a couple of times before I finally quit obsessing over the sound : )

Now You've Done It
Be prepared to duck! Mary don't like people making fun of her. I like the concept of the little pony on the stock. Nice touch. I have noticed that Hollywood has been having more and more killers and assassins of the female persuasion.

The worst one didn't even need a gun. Uma Thurmond in Kill Bill of course.

Girls with guns
Look out for a femme fatal armed with an Uzi : )

I didn't make up the image of the pony on the pick gun stock: that's what's on the market.

Sideshow Symphony

I believe you are slowly establishing yourself as THE sardonic Barker for the Sideshow our *Civilized* culture has become, Warren. Your arrangements perfectly accompany the subject matter you address with wild, but deserved, abandon. Keep up the good work. ;)

Simply absurd
I suppose it's better to be the sideshow barker than the sideshow itself : )

I once thought life would get more simple with aging. Now I know it just gets more absurd.

I've noticed those guns
When visiting our local Accademy. Protest song with a sarcastic message and well executed (no pun intended). I especially like the part where the guitar and synth play together.

Set the trigger on repeat
Yes, that's why I repeated the opening five times : )

Perhaps all of the music needs to come up a little in relation to the vocals? Mixing is not my forte, but I've certainly improved during my adventures in Macjamsland. Thanks for listening.

Love the first verse. Made me laugh out loud. Lyrics to die for...
Gives new meaning to "femme fatale". Classic "Smithsonian" circus vibe. Thanks, Warren.

posted a comment and it didn't show so second try
intriguing title and song
here in Europe people don't get the guncraziness of Americans
I like the twist you gave it in the lyrics
the music made me think of the circus here and there :-)
good one!
enjoyed!

Arms and the girl
It doesn't make sense to a lot of us Americans, either. For some reason people think buying a gun is going to make them safer .. when statistics show that the opposite is true, that the most-likely person to get hurt by having a gun in a home is .. you. But hey .. let's arm the Girl Scouts.

Thanks for making a second effort!

unique sound
enjoyable ~ and apparently the product from a seed sprouting from an inimitable thought process - of course leading to a great song - wild turkey shoots and the Blunderbuss started all our usa problems - i was barely allowed a daisy BB gun -

Cool quirky song….love that mad little instrumental fairground bit! Good lyrics….what is this obsession with guns that some folk have?

Good thing: Humming a song about guns on the way to work.
Bad thing: Bringing an automatic weapon with you to the office.

Mary vs. Susie
At the end of the piece I thought long and hard about adding a segment of the classic children's song "Mary had a little lamb" as a way to heighten the absurdity of how things have changed for Mary. In the end I decided not to .. because it might be fine for a listen or two, but then become obviously annoying with each successive listen. I kind of feel the same way about Susie: it's cute, but just a little too obvious. But who knows? You guys may be right.
