Sweet Mary Jane

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
Closing track for my forthcoming sunshine/bubblegum pop collection. I think I may end up releasing a Cupcake Parade album before the first Applesauce Project album.

I've posted this before, but it was an incomplete version -- here is the reasonably final version (I may still tweak the mix here and there) as I'd envisioned it. While I would have preferred to use real female voices in the chorus, it was not to be. I did get a rippingly good bassline from @NorthPoint, though -- thanks, Alan!

So the credits for this one are:

Alan Crouch: Bass
John Mietus: Everything else
Randy Hardin and Pete Magsig: Philosophical musings and additional laughter

Lyrics
I just can't help but smile
I can't stop grinning...

I don't understand how she can turn the night to morning
And yet the sky is filled with silver starlight
There's something absurd she brings to every new day dawning
Does she mean to be
Just a dream to me

I don't understand how she can turn the rain to rainbow
That's shining from noon until the verdant twilight
So preciously perfect under alabaster moonglow
Now it's clear to me
Why she's dear to me

Look at the way she fills my world with laughter
Sweet Mary Jane
Wherever she goes my heart goes tumbling after
And time stands still

A bubbling breath and then she fills my heart with gladness
A whispered word and now the world is upside down
I suddenly realize the magic in her madness
More than memory
She means so much to me

We're dancing slowly through the pages of her story
And marvelous music always echoes all around
This feeling I get when she reveals herself in glory
Clothed in ecstasy
Wrapped in harmony

Look at the way she fills my world with laughter
Sweet Mary Jane
Wherever she goes my heart goes tumbling after
And time stands still

The touch of her kiss and I end up feeling fine
Her supple embrace and I'm relieved of tension
I'm walking around in love all the time
It's like I'm living in the ninth dimension

Look at the way she fills my world with laughter
Sweet Mary Jane
Wherever she goes my heart goes tumbling after
And time stands still
And time stands still
And time stands still
And time stands still
And time stands still

Look at the way she fills my world with laughter
Sweet Mary Jane
Wherever she goes my heart goes tumbling after
Sweet Mary Jane

Sweet Mary Jane
Not convinced that Mary Jane is a sweet as you suggest, but the music certainly is. Lively, bouncy style - very entertaining! Sort of The Monkees meets Sgt Pepper. Interesting arrangement.
