A man who still drives a car with a crank handle on it is always going to struggle with technology, but I have learnt a lot already. This is my first go at recording anything so go easy on me.

Lyrics
The last two weeks have been such a blur.
I can't seem to concentrate on anything.
It's like I am walking around in a dream like state.
But it's not a dream. It's real.

I fell asleep on the train yesterday.
It felt like you were with me again.
When I woke, it was just another girl,
wearing your perfume.

Gone forever, gone forever, gone forever.

I heard that song again today.
The one you used to sing while you were doing the ironing.
It made me feel happy and sad at the same time.
Then it ended, and I was back to reality.

Gone forever, gone forever, gone forever.

Remember that crazy scarf you used to wear?
I couldn't stand it.
Now everyone is wearing them.
Or so it seems.

Gone forever, gone forever, gone forever.

There's a girl in the supermarket,
She's the spitting image of you.
Back when you had long hair.
I can't bring myself to shop there anymore.

Gone forever, gone forever, gone forever.

I still get people phoning up for you.
They don't know what happened.
I'm not going to go through the whole story for their benefit.
I just put the phone down on them.

Gone forever.

Thank you
Thanks Daugrin. I was thinking about your comment, and it's true. Listening to someone else's woes does brighten up your day sometimes. Back in the day, I used to love listening to The Smiths and hearing about Morrissey's life of misery.

Lesson in Life
The pub is a great place to go. Not only get a frosty adult beverage in a comforting atmosphere, but there is usually someone there to ease your troubles. This is where the troubadour tradition came from, and you are right there!

Fair dinkum, mate
Welcome aboard. A fine first post. Sounds good to me and, other than the strong Aussie accent, I can relate. Also cool that you recited rather than sang. Thanks for the listen. Sorry about your girl.

No worries Mate
Accent? What accent? It is the rest of the world who talks strange. Thanks for the comments Richard. Very much appreciated. Oh, and for the record, it;s not a true story in any way, shape or form. I just made the whole thing up. Now where did I leave my boomerang.....

Sad...
but I've always been a sucker for a sad song. Yet at the same time this piece has a whimsical aspect. Creates an interesting emotional tension. Well done.

Be well friend!

Sadder
Thanks Calchas. I deliberately didn't tell what happened to the girl to try and create a question mark in the song. Appreciate you comments. Have a good Christmas.

Gone Forever
I like the story telling style and your honest, strait-forward style, Dean. Sad story but not maudlin. The recording is fine. Liking the guitar work. Welcome aboard! Take care.

Gone Forever
That's funny, I think. Sad situation but with a focus on the mundane (a song sung while ironing) delivered with a Paul Hogan (or Strop?) feel that makes it amusing. Nice playing too. Much enjoyed.

Hoges or Strop?
Hoges or Strop you say? I honestly didn't think I even owned an accent until I put this tune up. Lucky I put the lyrics up to act as subtitles. Seriously though, thanks for the review Philip, I am glad you enjoyed it.

First Post
I have been waiting like forever for your first post - and then I went and missed it. I'm sure I can come up with a good excuse : )

This is engaging storytelling! The narration sucks you right in. And there's something about the mundane happenings that hit close to the bone. Not a dream - it feels real.

At first, I thought you were describing recent political events : )

I could see a musical break (or a short instrumental riff between verses) to add a bit more texture. All in all, a great first post. Finally.

Finally
Thanks a lot Warren. You are dead right about the need for a break or a solo. As soon as I submitted the song, I thought of a nice little solo I could had added. Doh! Maybe I'll put it on the 12" disco inferno remix in a few years.
