Description
Was setting up to record this song, and ran the song with one mic. Kept it just like that. Thanks for listening.

Lyrics
Walking down these streets alone
It’s quiet in the morning sun
Resting on the weight of the world on my feet on the ground

Seems I never used to take stock
Now it’s like it’s all I do
Something bout the cool of the air this time of October

Cause there ain’t nothing in this town to break
I don’t want to go on living this way

-----------

Thinkin bout what might have been
Thinkin bout what still might be
Burning round the turn on the corner of heard and seen

Focus on a faraway sound
Stillness always quiets them down
It’s always been my place of calm but still I can't find it.

Cause there aint nothing in this town to break
I don’t want to go on living this way
Cause there aint nothing in this town to shake
I don’t want to go on - I don’t want to go on living this way

-----------

I gotta make my way through this old town and try and make another one miss
I gotta make my way through this old town and try and make another...try and make another...try and make another one miss.

Simplicity aint simple
The chant outro got my attention, chance for the song to open up by getting further into what is, "Make another one miss."
I wanted to know more of the story and thought that it was coming there... ah well.
Thanks for sharing your material, always enjoyed...

It's about whatever you want it to be about. Everyone makes sense of a song for themselves. Does it have to be literal?

Troubadour Tradition
I heard the song as an example of a traditional form.
I will agree with you this way, the sense of any song comes from the listener's experience.
If you will allow, songs don't have to be literal, rational or linear either... traditionally, that's a description of a nursery rime.
There are hundreds of years of songster history, filled with forms, or kinds, types, of songs. Yer a troubadour my friend, like it or not.

Interesting , thought-provoking lyrics. Evocative vocal. I like it. Although I appreciate the value of simplicity, I'd be confident the song could handle a more complicated arrangement. Much enjoyed.

Quiet simplicity
lends an intimate air to your personal and well-delivered lyrics. I esp. liked the poetry in "Burning round the turn on the corner of heard and seen".
The Daug is right: you are a troubadour. Thanks for the post and, hang in there: you're not alone.

Very nicely done. Both the vocals and guitar sound great. Not that it needs it (sometimes simpler is better), but I'd be curious how it would sound if you recorded it as you originally intended. Were you going to add additional tracks? Again, sometimes simple is good and I liked this a lot.

Answer
I often sit down to record after ruminating on the arrangement for a week or more, but for this one I had a song I thought was strong, so I went up to record it and figure it out from there. While I was getting an acoustic level and sound, I started singing along and decided there was a certain emotional element there that I liked. I can't mix it or redo the vocal or anything. I only had one mic. I'd never done that before, so I think I'm gonna keep it. Maybe I'll get a band involved for live stuff.

The simple arrangement and recording technique works just fine for me. Engaging, emotive vocal work and a sympathetic acoustic guitar accompaniment. My sort of performance. Introspective but accessible. Nice one. Thanks.
