Description
This one has been a long time in the making.

I recorded the rhythm guitar and a different drum track back in 2012. At that time I had a different lead guitar and no lyrics. I worked on it on and off for a while and nothing ever happened, so I shelved it, pulling it up every so often to see if any inspiration hit.

Jump ahead to about a month ago. I start playing with Logic again for the first time in a while and I decide to pull this one up. First thing I do is replace the loop drum track with a drummer track and everything starts to fall together. Lyrics fall into place. I get a better lead guitar track and I start getting excited about the song again.

The message of the song is pretty straight forward. The sound of the song dips into a heavier territory than I usually get into, though I like to have an excuse every once in a while to use my rock 'n' roll voice.

This is one that took a while, but I'm actually pretty pleased with the way it came out. Hope you are too.

Oh, and...

PLAY IT LOUD!!!

Politik
©2012/2017 (Lyrics) Joseph Gurner

Blind eyes see
The lies that you’re dealing
Cold hands feel
Nothing but misery

Careless words
Echo through the air
Falling into
The minds of those who hate

We stand aside
Victims to the callous
Playing games
While the world burns down

We run and hide
As the world spins around us
While they play the
Game of Politik!

Feel the sorrow
Of lives we have squandered
Cry the tears
Of the damned in the night

Heartless actions
Take the futures of our children
Never seeing
The damage they have done

We stand aside
Victims to the callous
Playing games
While the world burns down

We run and hide
As the world spins around us
While they play the
Game of Politik!

We stand aside
Victims to the callous
Playing games
While the world burns down

We run and hide
As the world spins around us
While they play the
Game of Politik!

You did a good job with Drummer, Joe. The driving beat is flanked nicely by the crunchy guitars. Rock voice 101 on display, too. Politics is very fertile ground for any genre of music at the moment, but hard rock probably best encapsulates the anger and disillusionment that many people feel. Nice one. Thanks.

Play it Loud...agreed!
Ah, theme and production support the project. There is sufficient pitch challenge in the vocal and lead guitar to make fine sauce, without making the proceeding unlistenable... good stuff.
Unfortunately, the cultural meme of apocalypse that has been running for the last 10 years and appears to be all you have... Reality is so much more involved perhaps? Fear not my friend yer not standing aside, yer in the middle of the road.

Build that Song
There's a lot of angst in the world today. What better way to get some of it out than writing and recording a rock song.

Ominous beginning. Remember - no matter how bad things are, they can always get worse! This song has a brooding sustained build to it. It may have taken a long time to get it finished, but the effort has been worth it.

the world burns down
you couldn't have sang it better, like the guitar riffin in this has a warning or anticipation in the urgency of the rhythm cool track
