Description
This is my subtle protest song.

Original song description from 2008:

stepping back from the edge can be a healthy thing.

Been sitting on this for a couple months, not knowing where to go with it... so it is, as it is.
Inspired by the political tide of 2008...

This version is a remix, mainly blending and adjusting the volume of the various tracks. The inspiration for the style of this song was "Wooden Ships" by Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

Lyrics
Hand in hand, we walked that road
They spoke of things- we were never told
Daylight promised- in the night
Drifting near to the edge.

They called to everyone, come this is the way
Thousands in unison, as scripted in a play
Lifting desires- to an empty throne
Drawing near to the edge

To a pilgrim of the tide
Said, I was here just for the ride
As the doorman asked for my pledge
I stepped back, stepped back from the edge.

Turning away, we took another path
The climb was steep, the die was cast
And as we walked along- we left behind the past
Stepping back from the edge.

Raindrops fell, washed away our tears
What we lost was nothing- more than our fears
And as we dreamed- we fell to sleep
Walking back from the edge.

To a pilgrim of the tide
Said, we were here just for the ride
As the doorman asked for our pledge
We stepped back, stepped back from the edge.

Stepping Back From The Edge
Lovely intro. Liking the acoustic guitar/ harp vibe. Warm, engaging vocal. Fine ballad with good lyrical hook. Re-mix sounding spacious and nicely balanced. Thanks, Jack.

The Edge
I get your Wooden Ships vibe - this has depth to the lyric, and the vocal too as I hear it. The mouth harp is perfect to nail the emotion. A good listen Jack.

While this works so well sung solo, I can't help but imagine what it would be like with some harmony in parts - even if you did all the vocals. I'm probably influenced by your CSN reference.

Thanks for the download!

I think I remember this one...
but 2008 seems an age ago.

Anyway, I really like this arrangement.

Superb mix. Perhaps one of your best tunes. You were wise to resurrect it bro!

Be well!
