Description
(Apologies to those of you suffering withdrawal symptoms but I've been gardening ;-)

My first, reasonably successful attempt at programming drums (actually, using the pencil tool to draw midi notes in piano roll view) from December. There are two loop tracks containing some percussion (claps, shakers) which repeat a couple of times but the rest is me. Two drum tracks (Rock Kit and Orch. Percussion Kit), a Fingerstyle Electric Bass, a Classic Rock Organ playing chord stabs, and a Boldt Vibraphone track. The first and last Vibe sections are single notes but the middle two are doubled notes as if hit by a pair of mallets at the same time. Minor effects have been added to most tracks: the Key is E at 115 bpm.

Experiments like this...
...are always fun to hear and never fail to reveal the mind of the creator. You've got such nice things going on inside this track. I especially like the vibes kind of tinkling along everything and providing a useful melodic component to the whole track.

Programming
I like your drums. For most of the track they are not a straightforward pop drum kit.

When you do go for the straight 16ths on the hi-hat it doesn't feel as natural: the underlying toms and such never change. Also the 16ths are a bit too straight.

I admire your patience in programming drums - I get sick of it pretty quickly! Interesting to hear the way you've put things together in this one.

Watch
out; your musicianship is showing. I think I'm pretty good with midi, but it's one of the composing aspects I dislike doing more than anything. Requires too much forced patience for me. Keep up the "more you, less loops"!

Yeah!
Richard, ye be rockin'!

One of your catchier pieces to be sure. A worthy experiment.

Be well friend!
